First 5k - brother with C.P. Mom 74

Sorry for the following gushy moment:

Couldn’t be prouder this morning! My little brother with cerebral palsy finished his first ever 5k, and my mom also finished her first ever 5k at age 74. I only wish I could have been there for them. I think it took an hour, which I expected. I watched Chris ‘running’ at Christmas time and I was so proud of him. His ‘run’ is more of a hop on the right leg and swing the left one around. I cannot even imagine how much he must hurt, but man am I proud! I am not coordinated enough to hop on one foot for a minute much less an hour, he totally humbles me, and then my Mom she is a former very high elite jumper (horses) and hung up athletics when she had children.

It’s never too late to start, and that saying if you put your mind to it…
Happy 2008, time to get back on the horse.

Congrats to your brother and mother. How did she do in her age group?!
WK

Congrats to both! Hope the enjoyed the event!

Woo Hoo! Very cool, Eileen! Thanks for sharing. We need a finish line pic!!

I don’t know … it is Florida

will work on the finish photo. I was planning on driving the 6 hrs to be there in person, but after 2 15 hr days of massages back to back, I really couldn’t drive. They both sounded SUPER pumped.

Thanks for letting me share this, not many get the excitement over the first.

Wow Great story!
