Tom - Thanks for putting on a fun little race - and for letting the Firecracker be the venue for our first to-be-annual BBC (Beater Bike Classic). I do have to say, that was the coldest water I’ve ever swam in, ever. Your kayakers definitely had a busy day out there! Umm, is the water usually a bit warmer for Steelhead?

Thanks again!

On the web site the run is listed at 3 miles. It was actually 3.1 (a 5k) right? Just want to see how my times are coming along.

Great race and I really like the changes to the the bike course—despite dropping my chain twice. And the ending to the run was diabolical. Hitting that little patch of sand almost knocked me over. Finally, I have never seen so many draft marshalls on a course in my life. Well done. If this was any indicator of what you’re going to do for steelhead, racers better beware.

This might turn into one of those “epic” races that everyone talks about being part of in a few years! I can hear athletes talking about doing the 2007 Firecracker - “the water might be a bit cold this year, but I did the race in 2007 when it was 56 degrees!”

Our swim team for Firecracker and Steelhead are great - Tim Johnson (he also does the Ironman/NA Sports Swims) and our local guy Paul - teacher and coach at St. Joe High School organzied a great swim team and yes they were busy helping out swimmers in the cold water.

Steelhead has never been that cold and we have 4 weeks to warm the water up! Let’s hope for 68-72 degree water on August 4th. Z

The run was measured at 3.1 miles - we will have a top notch group of officials at Steelhead! Thanks for coming out to the race and I’ll see you at Steelhead. Z

Great race Z! You and your crew always do an awesome job!

Speaking of your crew, who was the hot chick in the black Gatorade hat?

See you soon!
