Detriment to my feet and humanity. Six of you decided to try me and now your whole colony shall die. I have hydrocortizone but I bet you dont have asbestos suits or MOPP 4 capabilities.
If you’ve never expereinced them you dont know what you are missing.
Let me know when you’re gonna kill them, I want to see if I can feel a great disturbance in the force.
Fireants and yellow jackets are awful, oh and yellow flies too. The pain lasts for a while.
I do have a great way to get rid of both. Take a screen off your trailer winder. Put it over the hole and pour a couple gallons of gas down the hole. Get a couple of beers and wait for the gas to make its way down the hole. Trying not to spill your beer, lean over the hole. You want to make sure you can still smell the gas. Take your cigarette lighter outta your pocket and light it up. It is more fun when one of your drunk buddies does it so you can make fun of him as he screams like a little baby, but it works.
Actually the screen and gas does work well for the yellow jackets, but most sane people probably would advise against it. But most sane people wouldn’t want to run 26 miles after biking 140.
If you’ve got yellow flies, I do have a great way to thin their numbers too. Take a beach ball, blow it up and use black spray paint. Let it dry for a day or two. Hang it by a string somewhere in the shade, but where the wind can move it around. Buy some spray called “Tanglefoot” from your local feed store. Spray it on the ball and watch as the yellow flies start getting stuck over the next few weeks. It really does work well.

Brilliant. I’ve never seen “Tanglefoot” but have never looked for it…
Some friends of mine live on a shaded lot about a mile from me. I was using their lap pool for a month one summer and they had a couple of the balls out. They were covered with flies.
I did a quick search and found several references, but not an official site. I think it is used around stables and feed sites for cattle, so feed stores and “country” hardware stores will likely have it.
They have a tub that you apply to trees to keep insects from crawling up the trees.
I put my balls out last summer and they still have adhesive on them. Though I do need to respray them.
