Weird thing is that I think the Russian Federation is honestly trying to clean up the sport in their country, but their athletes are getting hooked up with the PED Express that’s overrun Russia’s track & field programs in recent years.
Right now there are probably about two dozen candles lit in St. Basil’s that they don’t get their fourth doping strike before the clock runs out on the first one because that would make for one heck of an awkward moment if the host country’s athletes were not allowed to compete at the meet.
Me, I’m almost hoping they get strike four because it just wouldn’t be a proper FINA Would Championships without some sort of controversy, small or large and whether FINA gave the Russian federation the ‘death penalty’ or not would continue the tradition of the event bringing hella awkwardness.
