So in other words what you have preached isn’t what YOU truly believe. To be honest, precedent has nothign to do with it. For me a man’s word is everything. If one cannot believe what a man says, a man’s word is useless.

Well, here we are again. Seems that “The Tribe” isn’t mature enough to leave a charity thread alone and let it run its course without having their say and dirtying it up with personal attacks and political beliefs. So I thought I’d post it again to those who might be interested in reading about it without the ad lib comments that really don’t pertain to the subject at hand.
What has changed from the first post, the second post, the third post, the fourth post and now the fifth post? Nothing.
I can’t figure out if you’re a control freak or just not a very quick learner, but I think it’s time you let this go.

For some reason, you just don’t get it - this isn’t just a charity. First, respectable charities give most or all of their reveues to the people they are ostensibly supporting. Second, if you can’t see that this is a highly politicized topic, you’re just blind. Third, if you want to support US troops, or the USO, there are quite obviously better ways to do it than this. Give it up.

Totally agree with you there. Plenty of opportunities to support our troops outside of the USO.
I can see someone posting a brief notice or remarks about a particular charity on the main forum but only if at least has something to do with triathlon or one of its component sports.
Buying someone a bike, discussing a charity supported or started by a well known triathlete or cyclist, or even a “Let’s buy Triathlete Mag subscriptions for our boys and girls overseas” thread might be appropriate. However, I cannot see any connection at all between triathlon, 7-11 and the USO.
Please elucidate if I have somehow missed the triathlon connection.

That would be true if people on the board didn’t bump their own threads simply so they would get more attention.

In this particular case, I heard about it on the radio as I was driving to work. It reminded me of the funeral I attended a year ago for a former classmate of mine and fellow triathlete who was killed in Iraq. His parents asked that anyone wanting to donate in his memory do so to the USO
