Fess Up (1)

What’s your worst “voluntary” performance limiter? What factor-within your ability to control- holds back your training the most? Nutrition? Sleep? Training time in the event you like the least?

Why haven’t you fixed it?

Easy. Diet. Haven’t fixed it because I haven’t set any firm goals to deal with it.

Bad John. Bad, bad.

Off to In-N-Out for lunch - anyone care to join me?

Sleep I think. I think “oh I can go to bed at 9:30 then get up and run at 5, and all will be good”

But then I pick up my latest copy of Triathlete or something, or read another few chapters of Going Long, and before I know it it’s 11 and I can’t get my butt out of bed in the morning. Sometimes I succeed, but it’s a monumental mental battle every time.

Also, since swimming is arguably my strongest sport, I tend to not concentrate on it enough (and the school open swim times SUCK). I’ve had some very not pleasant swims in my past few races. But my bike is improving, as is my run.

Hope my GF doesn’t log on to the forum today…

Good looking females! Actually, my GF is good looking, but lives out of town. We live close enough to get together on weekends and train together quite a bit (heck of a climber on her Kestrel).

However, during the week, not too much eye candy out running or swimming in my community. No wonder Stanislaus County in considered one of the least fit counties in the US. More good looking female athletes would definitely get me more.

Sleep would be #2. Hard to get up with less than 7 hours under my belt at night.

#3 Running trails. It could be worst, but CA Central Valley is not the most beautiful place to run. Canal banks, mostly.

Give me a nice place to train, the first two would be easily overcomed.

Sex…Lately it has been an excessive sexual drive causing me to stay up really late into the night taking care of a certain girl who I have been seeing.

3 out of the 5 days a week, I wake up exhausted - 3 hours of sleep…and a lot of calories burnt. I would not trade this for anything right now.

Diet. I like eatting more than I dislike having some extra pounds. Of course at the end of every race I swear that I’ll drop the weight.
