Female-specific HRM?

Looking for a female-specific (aka, smaller) heart-rate monitor for my girlfriend for her birthday that can record workouts (and then be uploaded to a computer). She likes the small size of her women’s Timex Ironman sleek watch. She’ll use the HRM for urnning 95% of the time and I don’t think she’s interested in using GPS because of their size (pod sensors for shoes might be OK). I’ve looked at the Polar F4, but it can’t record workouts. I myself use a Forerunner 305, but that’s way to big for her wrist (she’s about 5’ and 85 lbs). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I’m a little person and wear a Polar 625X. Its got all the data collection that I need. It is rather big (the face of the watch is actually wider than my wrist), but that bothered me for about 5 seconds and then I was over it. I don’t believe I saw a smaller HRM with the same features out there, but it was a couple of years ago.

I don’t have any info about the smaller HRM’s but two female friends that are both petite, prefer to use a sports bra with a built in sleeve under the breasts, designed for inserting the HRM, without the elastic strap. Sorry, but I don’t know the brand as I’m married an neither of them are my wife! :frowning:
I think I remember seeing the sports bra in the Colorado Cyclist catalogue. I’m sure there are other places to get them, but a good place to start the search.

Timex makes a version of their HRM for smaller wrists.

You really ought to ask to see them, for “research purposes”.

Check out the Polar RS line. My RS200 is great for running, and is much more streamlined than many other Polar models. The footpod actually works well too. Good luck.

Second the Timex watches.

I didn’t ask them specifically about the HRM query, but asked a…similar…yeah similar question, involving their HRM location and was rebuffed both times.

One said she was no good at keeping secrets

The other said, I’m best friends with your WIFE, how could you even ask?

0 for 2 I guess. Oh well, on to number 3

I use a Polar 625. My wrist is so small, that even in the tightest setting, the wrist band wasn’t tight enough, so I bought a smaller band. Because of the width of the band, I think I actually had to find a band that I could add holes to until it fit. I only wear it for working out, since the face is so big, but I wouldn’t want to try to read a smaller face on the run, especially in the dark.

Your best bet is the RS200 either SD or no SD version, maybe even in red. The watch will download to www.Polarpersonaltrainer.com It is done sonic(sound via a microphone) not via infrared. The watch will record 16 workouts. Downloading is free to the service. I see way too many technical guys wanting something as technical for their wifes/girlfriends when the females are not as technical. The RS200 will have timers for repeats. If she is very technical athletes, uses the terms anerobic, tempo in her vocabulary, the RS400 is very smart, the Pro trainer 5 software is very good. Not sure where you live, but try to visit expo’s where Polar is attending for a better deal. www.polarusa.com

I got my wife a Nike Imahra HRM last year that she has been very happy with. Has all the normal features but also counts calories, which she seems to like. Watch unit is nice and small and easy to use.
