The portion of the seatpost clamp that is integrated to the frame (carbon) has a crack in it. It’s not all the way through it does run the full length (vertically) of the clamp. I already had the removable collar crack on me once and luckily the shop where I bought it from just swapped it out (apparently, I wasn’t the only one they’d seen).
My question is 1) does anyone know if this portion of the seatpost clamp can be removed and replaced or 2) if this sounds like something that should be covered by Felt’s lifetime frame warranty? Their site says it doesn’t cover fatigue, but the bike’s only about 13 months old and seatpost clamps shouldn’t crack.
I had the same thing happen to a Felt B2 frame last year. From what I understand, there is no way to fix your problem. The bike shop I bought the bike from told me the frame was toast. Fortunately Felt replaced the frame as it fell under their warranty. When this happened to me the bike was just over a year old, so about the same age as your bike.
I’m no bike expert but from what I heard, you have to replace the frame.
Good luck.
This happened to my B2 as well a couple months ago. My bike was about 2 years old and I did not buy directly through Felt or a factory dealer, however they still took it back under warranty and I was able to upgrade to a brand new DA for $2,000.
