Felt s32 2003 vs Felt s32 2004 help Tom D

Does anybody know much about why Felt changed their entry level tri-bike for 2004. It changed the aerobars to profile instead of syntace and seemed to down-grade some of the components. Is the 2004 worth getting with the downgrades? Or should I look for a 2003. Tom D. what do you think about the felt 32 2004 compared to the 2003,

Hmmm, this is a question for the master of Felt, the much talked about but seldom seen Superdave. He is the Felt answerman. I will check with him ASAP. In general I can tell you that it is too late for 2003 S32. I would be amazed if anyone had any left. If they did, they must not be a very busy tri shop. Almost all of our S32s were sold before we received them. The S32, off the top of my head, looked pretty good but I do remember some changes. I’ll get back to you, I’m just climbing on the Computrainer before the store opens.

I noticed that as well. As the owner of a 2003 S22, I’m glad that I bought my 2003 (at closeout prices) rather than getting an 2004 S25 which seems to be the equivalent bike with lesser components. I guess we won’t really know how this all plays out until the prices for the bikes come out. Maybe the models will go for less than what they were in 2003?

If you’re looking for a 2003 S32 or S22 and don’t mind dealing with a non-local LBS, send me a PM. The LBS in my area bought a lot of 2003s last minute to sell as closeouts and may still have some in stock. I can put you in touch with the ower.

I own a '03 S32 that I upgraded by trading out a lot of parts for better ones (front and rear ders, bars, seat post, saddle, wheelset, etc) and now it’s a fabulous racing bike. With that in mind, I can’t imagine all the upgrades I’d have to make on the new '04 S32’s. I think I’d just buy a freakin DA (which is what I really want someday).

FYI my LBS Rand A Cycles (racycles.com) has more than a few S32’s and S22’s from '03. But Felt does not warranty bikes bought via mail order or the internet, so that might be a little less than optimal. Hell, jump in the car and drive to Brooklyn if you really want one. They’re worth it.
