Felt IA Elbow Pad Tilt - how?

Anyone know of a way to achieve a 10* tilt on the stock IA FRD Bayonet cockpit? dont necessarily want to change aerobars completely just to achieve this position.

Does anyone make any aftermarket wedges, clamps or some sort of tilt options for the arm pads??

Thanks!

The cheap way to do it is to add a few washers under the front bolt hole of the pad. Then you’ll need longer bolts. It works well and is pretty stable, but if you plan to remove the bolts a lot, there’s a good chance to strip the threads.

All of the wedges I’ve seen are in the UK. Jason Swan on the TimeTrial forum makes 3D wedges for damn near every aero bar.
Revolver has very nice aluminum wedges.
Drag2Zero also makes nice aluminum.
AeroCoach makes 3D printer wedges, as well.

The 3D plastic ones have the same caution as the washer route: it angles the bolts just a bit and can cause stripping if not carefully installed. The aluminum ones have a 2nd set of thread and bolts, which are much more secure, but heavier and more costly.

^ this is an extensive list.

3D printing some isn’t a big deal with the right measurements if you’ve got somebody with a hobby size printer and basic program skills.

You sir, are a SAINT!!!

Do you want just tilt on the armpad or the extensions as well. If you search the official IA thread here you will find a company that makes the angled wedges specific for the IA. I bought them from them whe i owned mine. Worked great. I just can’t remember the company name right now, so you to search for it on that thread.

And when you press send you remember the company, here you have it https://www.shapeways.com/shops/dcohen24

Had 10° shims machined out of aluminum.
Don’t trust the 3D printing. Only 30$ for the work and parts.

Very flattered you like it jeroen… Just to clarify, I’m very much not a company… Just thought it was a cool challenge. I’m a software guy by trade… But those do move both bars and pad angles.

Is you just want pads changed, you can try

dcohen24, I tried to send you a message via shapeways, but that system is messed up. You think you could help me with which combination I’ll need to tiilt my pads?

I second Jason Swan… I’ve used him for many of my fit clients including Felt IA owners.

Was just talking about this today… if you get tilt you’re going to want more reach, so be prepared because that’s another hurdle to jump with the FRD.

I used washers

I didnt see any recent messages. Ping me again or DM me here?

I’m going to do a 50 degree aero bar, is there a computation to figure out which angled shim I should buy?

The pedestals are only long enough to support 10 degrees of arm pad tilt
.

Hey man. You have a couple styles of angled shims, but some have three holes and some have two and some are “upper” and etc.

Photo Attached is the aero bar bracket to extensions. (I already have angled shims for the elbow pad) I’m just looking for maybe 7.5 degrees of tilt. Can you recommend the specific item, please? I appreciate your ability to build these. Thank you so much.

The 3d printed ones usually come with angled washers so there isn’t the weird stress/stripping of threads on the bolts. Just FYI.

I bought these in 20deg from Speedmetrics out of Brazil. Pretty easy ordering and took maybe a week?

I still haven’t installed them yet…

Has anyone tried the AeroCoach angled spacers on their IA?

We’re working on a part for our tilt block adapter to allow for it to fit with the Felt IA (this angles the extensions and arm rests up together at the same time). Our angled spacers (we have an updated design which is now sintered and a longer rear slot) will work to do the arm rests on their own.

Tilt block adapter shouldn’t take too long, we have a set of Felt bars on their way to us (the tricky thing is getting the exact bolt lengths and also a spacer to interface with the base bar), the guy who does them in our team normally works pretty quick once he has a bar in front of him.

This is all I’m interested in for now, thanks. I;m assuming the Multipack or the 10 degree wedges are of the new design you mention?

someone had posted these and I’ve used them on my IA and the Tririg scoops. I order 2 sets and use 2 on each side.

Cheap and quickly mailed in the US (they are in CA). I got the 5,7,10 degrees…using 7 now. Once I know which ones I’ll trim them with a dremel.

I did order the older style Aerocoach spacers but they didnt work for my IA…maybe the new versions do better. Clicking on the pics and images doesn’t tell you which ones you’re ordering…the wider, flat styles might work but there is no specification on their site regarding which item that is.
