As a Road racer looking to make the transition to triathlons next year, I’ve just started the process of looking for a Tri bike. Initially I eliminated Felt from the mix - not based on anything functional or design related, simply because I didn’t really like the look of the bikes. After looking around a bit, I stumbled on the below paint scheme…apparently this is a 2012 Felt DA1…can anyone corroborate this? Is it in fact a 2012 Felt DA1? Is it available in North America? Has anyone seen any for sale?
According to the Felt website, at 5’10" I’d fit into a size 56"…which does seem odd considering my road bike size is a 54" and on brands like Cervelo, I’m actually a size 51"!
Lastly, I believe Felt is one of the brands that is BB30 compatible, can anyone confirm this?
That is a 2012 DA1 frame. I saw one on the floor at Gear West last year. Kevin may still have it? I have a 2012 DA2 and love it. Yes, it is BB30 bike. Felts can be fit to a lot of people, just make sure you talk to someone who sells, fits, and services that level of bike. That is not a cheap frame, so talking to a shop like Gear West will be worth your time. Good luck!
Thanks for the suggestion…I took a look at the website you suggested and it appears to be a Nordic ski shop that sells running shoes. I didn’t see any Bikes on their site. Perhaps I’ll give them a call or send through an email.
I’m 5’10 with a 32" inseam and am currently on a 54" DA4. The geometry for the DA1 and the DA4 is exactly the same. But, everyone fits a bit different. I had a 2012 DA4 that was a 56. It got cracked in shipping and was replaced with the 2013 model in a 54". I haven’t raced on it yet (am on Saturday), but it seems more comfortable based on the small number of rides.
The DA1 from 2012 is pretty sick looking, I think.

There are 2 gear wests although I think they are related. The one you are looking for is Gear West Bike: http://gearwestbike.com/
They are definitely a very reputable tri shop in the twin cities area and really the whole mid-west, but depending on your location I’m sure they are not your only option.
You want Gearwestbike.com or google Gear West Bike and Triathlon. I am riding a 51 DA2, have a 54 road bike, and my old bike was a KM40 that was a 52 with 650 wheels…so that is why I think getting fit by a shop that sells more than one of these a year is a big deal. I think the picture is funny in the fact that it has a sram red group on it but has the Di2 battery cover installed. BTW, Get the Di2 if you can!!!

Sorry to hijack the thread but do you feel like the 54 DA fit you a little on the small side or just about right? I’ve been scoping out a DA and I’m torn between getting a 51 and 54. I’m 5’8" with a 31" inseam.

The Di2 cover makes the bike faster at higher yaw by preventing the tumbling air dam over the chainrings.
I have the Di2 cover on my Metron-equipped DA and have a tube and CO2 stuffed in it.

Any advice would help a lot. Thanks
The 54 seems perfect for me. There a lot of adjustable stems available to adjust things if necessary.
