Felt Da Bayonet 3 Fork assembly

Got a new DA frame today and despite the retailer saying it would be built, it wasnt. The fok setup looks complex, im a total amateur in terms of mechanics, but im sure I can follow the instructions. Am I crazy? Is this a job for a mechanic?

If you have some mechanical aptitude, some basic metric tools, and very thoroughly study felt’s documentation on your series of DA fork, you will probably will do a better job on the install than a typical mechanic at a typical bike shop. It is your bike and your neck on the line when you ride, so you will try to do the best job possible.

If you do choose to do it yourself, study and follow felts’ info very carefully. These forks need to be installed correctly the first time if you don’t want problems down the road.

I had my Felt DA put together by a LBS that carries Felt (bike was purchased out of state). The bayonet/front end came loose while I was riding a few weeks later. My husband went online to Felt’s website and searched on YouTube, he got a couple of good " How to" videos and re-assembled it for me, he’s taken it apart a few times. I have to admit that I have had several problems with the bayonet. I guess that is a pretty common problem with the DA, there is a very specific way to tighten everything down. I kind of lost faith in my LBS throughout this and have found that my husband (who is a mechanic anyways) does a better job.
I love that bike though!

I can only find videos for assembling bayonet 2 forks, but nothing on bayonet 3.
