Felt B2 binder = dumb design, broke my wrist

Damnit…

Well, a buddy over paid for a B2…a bike I am not at all impressed with. I think that the seat binder is one of the worst designs I have ever seen, and the seat often slides down - and when you tighten the binder the “tabs” close and actually contact each other.

Well, wrenching on the over tightened ( I didnt tighten it) bolt I re-broke my Avascular Schaphoid…and may be in a thumb spika cast today…I hate broken bones

rats!

how will this effect your training???

I would agree that the binder on the ('04) B2 seems like the chintziest piece ever…however, I have yet to have any slipping seatpost problems or issues overtightening .

There is a clamp that fits onto the seatpost as well as one that is integrated into the frame. Does your friend have both? It is possible the seat post will not stay in place with the clamp that is part of the frame only.

The new 2006 B2 has a different design that allows for a greater distortion of the internal cross section of the seat tube, creating a greater clamping force with less “wrist” effort. The frame is not threaded either, rather a small plate bolts to the rear of the seat tube acting to clamp the post and complete the look for the aero, faired seatpost.

What did your buddy pay for his full Dura Ace Zipp 404 equipped bike?
