Embarrassing as it is to bring this up, here goes…I rode a metric century on Sunday. I have been doing some fairly long rides (45 miles max) and have been doing some stationary training (1-1.5 hours) as well. I felt great during the metric and utilized some SAG stops for some calorie intake. I have been dodging what I have to say, but here we go…I still do not have complete feeling in a very important appendage, if you know what I mean. Slowly, some feeling has been coming back but for the most part, numb. I can feel it when I urinate and I have the ability to urinate and stop it mid stream (can’t remember the name of that muscle but it works). I am trying to get it back to full usage for obvious reasons but also because my girlfriend comes back from a business trip tonight and I would not mind being able to take it for a test drive. If she finds this out, she will assume the worst and I will be in the Emergency Room under the knife before you know it. Can anyone relate? The weather was not extremely cold, chilly (45 F at start) but warmed up throughout the ride (live in Arizona) so I would assume frostbite is out of the question. HELP???
I have not had numbness last this long,2 days? I have had it last a day, with no ill efects…In fact it was alittle numb but still worked, and consequently a lot longer! Thats not what you want to hear though…Seriously,if it persists for another day,go to the doctor.
Keep in mind this is free medical advice via the internet.
My guess is that you have some bruising/swelling in the perianal region (the area you typically sit on a bike seat with). This may be pressing on a nerve thus inhibiting the “signal.” If you can get/maintain an erection, you obviously have blood flow. It may just be a case of needing the swelling go down and feeling will return. I would avoid letting the girlfriend know about the situation and as one other poster mentioned, it may even have a benefit.

Is this were the term Numb-Nutts comes from and/or fits???
Man one guy runs till his Johnson is frozen and now one guy rides until he can’t feel his Wanker for days!!!
Man there is something seriously wrong with the type of training floks on this message board are engaging in.

You’re probably fine, but go to the doctor. 2 days is too long not to get checked out.
I disagree, but I’m not a doctor. I had some numbness for several weeks after a 40K TT, where I basically sat in one position for an hour, and that position put pressure where pressure should not be. It freaked me out, but everything still works. A friend of mine did Race Across America (RAAM), and had some numbness for six months, but it, too, went away.

From what I’ve read of Danny Chew and other RAAM riders it seams like numbness in that area might not be that big of a problem.
Thank you all for your responses. I feel better but if it continues on through the week, I will be asking for medical assistance. Good luck to all and thank you once again!
