So I guess Zion and Bagley chose Dook because of its stellar coaching staff.

Bennett stopped wearing a tie and UVA won a Natty, so my guess is he will continue to stay casual. Wright’s suits are a tough standard to live up to. Wright is another coach doing it the right way - really respect him and the 'Nova program. UVA lost its best 3 players to the NBA so we will take a step back next year but Bennett is already starting to reload. Good times to be a UVA or 'Nova fan.

I don’t like the idea of schools (who are already providing scholarships) paying players, but I do think kids who want to go pro straight out of high school should be able to.
I also think kids should be able to get paid via sponsorships. If the local college town car dealer wants to pay the quarterback $10,000 to appear in his commercial, have at it. In the case of the occasional superstar like Zion, he could’ve already made millions off of endorsements. He should be able to. I remember several years ago when Jeremy Bloom played football at UC and was also an Olympic skier. The NCAA wouldn’t let him get sponsored by a ski brand. Ridiculous.

This. Or on the other side, if the school wants to get sponsored by a shoe brand, he shouldn’t be able to penalize that QB if he prefers some other brand of shoe. Choosing to go to some school shouldn’t tie an amateur student-athlete to a contractual agreement between a corporation and the athletic department when the athlete gets no benefit except free product.
The NCAA wants it both ways. Under compensating the talent for contracts made by the leagues/schools, and denying them the opportunity to make their own.
warning, its tough to come down from this win. tough to manage expectations when you are used to a high level. we lost 4 after 2018 (all had eligibility left, 3 had graduated (academically), and oh god, its hard to go back to average (aka sucking).

As far as the recruiting scandal, if ratface is guilty, we will find out soon enough. Curious to see what Avenatti has, not that he’s the model of propriety, but if Nike was paying to funnel kids to Nike schools, I would not be surprised, and would sure like to know. I’ve always said I thought the player should be able to “get paid” off of their name and what they’ve done. Only athletes are penalized by this. If a musician goes to college and makes an album, he can get paid for it. Or any other student making $$ off of their name CAN, but not an athlete. So, if they don’t get “paid” they should be able to make money off of their name…BUT, once that happens Zion gets $2M to do a small commercial, and that avenue gets abused. So, I like the idea of a “salary cap” for the teams. That way you want to pay that QB $20k/year out of that $150k salary cap for your team, cool…but that will make it hard to recruit another top QB, or another position player if you eat up that much $$ in cap space. That would allow for some parity between schools, imho. It’ll never happen, but I think that would be better than the joke we have now ($millions to schools, and back door penny payments in comparision to SOME of the athletes).
I think government institutions and non-profits (most universities) should only be involved in unprofitable activities that have social benefit.
With this in mind:

It’s hard to imagine anyone doing a better job running those programs. They’re insanely well marketed. March Madness exceeds the NBA Playoffs in popularity.
I think the issue is that they are run by the private sector, effectively, and we should get rid of the last vestiges that they’re not. Big-time D1 athletic departments and the major NCAA conferences are hard to distinguish from private corporations except for their tax status and labor practices.

Given how obvious it is Duke was in it up to their eyeballs I expect SW Missouri State to be hammered hard.
