for riding on a trainer and for running outdoors?
“Remember the Name” by Fort Miner
(outdoors, for a nice, easy, chill run) “Free” by Donovan Frankenreiter and Jack Johnson
“Boom” P.O.D.
(for indoor training) any hardcore music, Job for a Cowboy, Animosity, Norma Jean, etc.
got my mp3 player stuffed - favorites these days: Trainer: Clipse, Hell hath no fury, Running: REM, Green.
I don’t want to deal with the mp3 player when I ride or run, but I like to watch the intro to What It Takes while I eat breakfast before I head out to ride - that song ‘Broken’ by the band Complete (ironically) is great. And I know this is weird, and potentially annoying, but every now and then I sing ‘Do Your Ears Hang Low’ when I run. Ya weird I know, but I can speed the song up to keep turnover high.
You need to check out the site…djsteveboy.com for some up tempo music. They have both Podrunner and Groovelectric tracks. I personally run to the " Come into our House’ Groovelectric track. Free downloads and great music that he puts up weekly.
I never run with music - but love my ipod for long trainer sessions.
An eclectic mix, highly workout- and mood-dependent. Some reliable favorites:
Van Halen - Jump, Hot for Teacher, Dance the Night Away, etc.
Prince - Let’s Go Crazy
Lynyrd Skynyrd - Free Bird
Of course, some Charlie Daniels, some Tim McGraw or Garth Brooks or other country.
Some techno stuff - Benny Benassi, DJ Tiesto, etc.
You can see clearly my generational bias. And schizophrenia.
Running outdoors? No music.
Favorite workout song right now is “Pain” - I think Three Day’s Grace?
I have several playlists set up for my ipod but the one I’m using most right now is made up of a bunch of instumental rock guitar tunes by Steve Vai and Joe Satriani.
Toxicity - System of a Down
The Sickness - Disturbed
Respect - Pantera
Vicarious - Tool
Rengades of Funk - Rage against the machine
Work - Jimmy Eat World
Your Number is 1 - Rollins Band
I’m not Okay - My chemical romance.
Jesus built my hotrod - Ministry
Hooray for me - Bad religion
Warning! Don’t take within 5 hrs of bed time
Cheers,
Alan
“*Jesus built my hotrod - Ministry” - *now THATS a classic - have not heard that one in a while - guess keeping cad. at 150 on the trainer with that one one the mp3 would feel like 50
I know this may sound strange but I have “Uncle F*cker” by Terrance and Phillip on my mp3 player. It always makes me laugh and when I’m mentally tired I really need that.
Yeah, I’m not sure what my cadence is on that one. I just know that the stationary bikes at the gym tend to make a weird whirring sound whenever that song is on.
gimme more suggestions please … I will be spending hours on a trainer
