Favorite Muppet Song

I’ve got “Riverbottom Nightmare Band” playing in my head right now. Truly an inspired work.

“It’s not easy being green.” A classic Kermit solo while sitting on a lilypad.

Rainbow Connections is a close second. Any song that makes me cry is a classic.

Ahhhh…nothing brings back that “holiday feeling” for me like Emmet Otter’s Jug Band Christmas. I’ve always been partial to “Ain’t No Hole in the Washtub”, myself. Just bought the DVD a couple of years ago for my children.

I spent several years of my childood responding to almost every demand with “right Chuck.”

Closely related, I often find “I’ve Got a New Way to Walk”, from Sesame Street swimming around in my head. After all these years, it’s still the best thing on television.

C is for Cookie, that’s good enough for me

C is for Cookie, that’s good enough for me

C is for Cookie, that’s good enough for me

Oh, Cookie, Cookie, Cookie starts with C

:).

Animal covering Wild Thing, along with Kermit on ukelele and Floyd. Complete genious. Listen to it at

but beware that if you’re at work and others can hear you, you’ll be suppressing laughs and squrting coffee out of your nose, as I just did.

I have a Sesame Street song I love, from:

http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B000002BF1.01._SCMZZZZZZZ_.jpg

It doesn’t get any better than “La la la” (click song title to listen!!!) and go here to listen to the rest of the album: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000002BF1/102-1032564-3071302?v=glance

In HS three friends and I participated in a fundraiser for the school by jello wrestling. For the tag-team match, my and my other friend’s entrance music was “La la la” and we rocked the house. In hindsight, I really wish I hadn’t broken my toe doing that and missed three weeks of my sophomore year baseball season (let’s just say the coach didn’t respect me much after that). But we won, so that’s what matters.

Another song that is hilarious is the Bert And Ernie And The Fan Lyrics Bert:

Bert (writing a letter with a pencil): “Dear Mister Rogers, I wish you would send me …”

Ernie (entering): Boy, it’s a hot one today, Bert! (Bert doesn’t answer) Bert? Oh, he’s writing a letter. I won’t bother him. (Louder) I won’t bother you, Bert! (Bert looks up, sighs, and continues writing) I’ll just get the electric fan and turn on some cool air. (Gets the fan and turns it on) Oh, there, that’s better. (Pause) If some cool air feels good, I’ll bet more cool air would feel even better. (Turns it on higher; it’s starting to get really breezy now!) Oh, the more air this fan blows, the cooler I feel. I bet if I turned it on all the way, it’d get really cool! (Does so, and papers start blowing around everywhere.) Oh, wow!

Bert: Ernie! The fan! Turn it off!

Ernie: What’s that, Bert?

Bert: Turn the fan off!

Ernie: I can’t hear you, Bert!

Bert: I said, TURN THE FAN OFF!

Ernie: TURN THE FAN OFF?

Bert: TURN THE FAN OFF!

Ernie: Oh, okay. (Turns it off)

Bert: Ernie …

Ernie: Yes, Bert?

Bert: WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS? I HAVE BEEN SITTING OVER THERE, TRYING TO WRITE A LETTER, AND ALL YOU DO IS BOTHER ME WITH THAT FAN! I AM SO HOT AND BOTHERED!

Ernie: You’re hot and bothered, Bert?

Bert: YES, I AM HOT AND BOTHERED!

Ernie: Oh, I have just the thing for someone who’s hot and bothered.

Bert: What’s that?

Ernie: Cool air, Bert! (Turns the fan on all the way. Papers blow around, and Bert starts yelling.)

Gotta love Google: http://lyrics.rare-lyrics.com/M/Muppets.html Lyrics to waaaay too many Muppets songs. Though I fundamentally disagree with any site that says Bert and Ernie were muppets, they were puppets on Sesame Street, geez.

Put down the duckie. Man it rocks!

Muppets’ Wizard of Oz to air Friday May 20

By Greg James
March 31, 2005

http://www.muppetcentral.com/_images/logos/oz.jpgMark your calendars. Call off work. Set your VCR’s and program your TiVo because the television premiere date of the highly anticipated Muppets television-movie has been announced today.

The Muppets Holding Company has revealed that “The Muppets’ Wizard of Oz” will air in the United States on Friday, May 20, 2005 at 8:00 pm EST on ABC (check local listings for full details). The film’s debut will be a two-hour television event (the film itself running 88-minuets, plus commercials and ads).

http://www.muppetcentral.com/_images/home/headlines/oz_group.jpgThe decision to sway away from the traditional Saturday night “Wonderful World of Disney” movie programming block was made in hope to get a larger family and child audience. Hopefully the Friday night debut will be able to not only pull in the ratings, but it will also entertain and delight millions of viewers. The premiere should be an uplifting and encouraging experience for Muppet fans, as the Monday prior (May 16) will mark the 15th anniversary of the death of Muppet-creator Jim Henson.

Additional information and details on international airings and home video releases should be available later this month. And sources report that Disney is working on setting up deals to have the film replayed over the summer on ABC, ABC Family, or the Disney Channel. Nothing has been official arranged or announced yet.

Anything by the Swedish Chef!

Good to see I’m not the only one with Muppets tunes on their iPod.

All time Muppets’ favourites:
Movin’ right along – Kermit/Fozzy
I hope that somethin’ better comes along – Kermit/Rolf
Can you picture that? - Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem

Isn’t that called “Phenomena”?

“We’re not birds, we’re a jugband!”

Oh Lydia Oh Lydia

Oh have you see Lydia,

Oh Lydia the Taaaaatoooo Lady.

I don’t know the rest

Oh Lydia Oh Lydia

Oh have you see Lydia,

Oh Lydia the Taaaaatoooo Lady.

I don’t know the rest

Oh Lydia, oh Lydia, say, have you met Lydia?
Lydia The Tattooed Lady.
She has eyes that folks adore so,
and a torso even more so.
Lydia, oh Lydia, that encyclo-pidia.
Oh Lydia The Queen of Tattoo.
On her back is The Battle of Waterloo.
Beside it, The Wreck of the Hesperus too.
And proudly above waves the red, white, and blue.
You can learn a lot from Lydia!

La-la-la…la-la-la.
La-la-la…la-la-la.

When her robe is unfurled she will show you the world,
if you step up and tell her where.
For a dime you can see Kankakee or Paree,
or Washington crossing The Delaware.

La-la-la…la-la-la.
La-la-la…la-la-la.

Oh Lydia, oh Lydia, say, have you met Lydia?
Lydia The Tattooed Lady.
When her muscles start relaxin’,
up the hill comes Andrew Jackson.
Lydia, oh Lydia, that encyclo-pidia.
Oh Lydia The Queen of them all.
For two bits she will do a mazurka in jazz,
with a view of Niagara that nobody has.
And on a clear day you can see Alcatraz.
You can learn a lot from Lydia!

La-la-la…la-la-la.
La-la-la…la-la-la.

Come along and see Buffalo Bill with his lasso.
Just a little classic by Mendel Picasso.
Here is Captain Spaulding exploring the Amazon.
Here’s Godiva, but with her pajamas on.

La-la-la…la-la-la.
La-la-la…la-la-la.

Here is Grover Whelan unveilin’ The Trilon.
Over on the west coast we have Treasure Isle-on.
Here’s Nijinsky a-doin’ the rhumba.
Here’s her social security numba.

La-la-la…la-la-la.
La-la-la…la-la-la.

Lydia, oh Lydia, that encyclo-pidia.
Oh Lydia The Champ of them all.
She once swept an Admiral clear off his feet.
The ships on her hips made his heart skip a beat.
And now the old boy’s in command of the fleet,
for he went and married Lydia!

I said Lydia…
(He said Lydia…)
They said Lydia…
We said Lydia, la, la!

Google Baby!!! Google!!!
