OK which race is your favorite. Mine would be Canada since it was my first and the people were the greatest. I mean free peaches at the bank come on.
Of the IMs I have done I would rate them in this order:
Canada, Hawaii, IM USA Lake Placid, Great Floridian, IM Florida (Panama City Beach) , Endurance (Sunapee,NH) no longer exits, Duke Blue Devil, ChesapeakeMan.
So little time and so many IMs to do yet!
Canada by a mile over the pack. But New Zealand is also in there, if only it wasn’t a 24 hour travel day to get there. Both have fantastic venues, great locals and community support, and the right vibe.
It’s gotta be Germany - 300,000 spectators in 2003; 5,000 in the finish-line grandstand. Remember Alpe-D’Huez last year at TdF? It’s like that on the course’s Powerbar Hill - no room to even think about passing. So good you want to turn around at the top just to come back up it again. And remember, it’s only in it’s 4th year this year.
IM New Zealand. The Kiwis are the best.
