I completed a huge weekend of workouts last weekend (Sat: 100 m bike/8 m run; Mon: 18 m run). I’m in a recovery week now, but feel deeply fatigued. My legs and body seem fine, but I feel like I cannot get enough sleep. My head feels cloudy and sluggish… Is this normal. Any suggestions?
The whole idea of exercise is to allow your body to adapt to the various stresses. More work equals more fatigue. Remember that your fitness gains come during recovery. Recovery is just as important as the work-out. You may be in the early stages of over-training. You probably need a few days off. More is not always better.
I did similar, 100 mile ride 30 minute run on Sat, 6.5 mile race on Sunday. I took Monday off, ran gently Tuesday, struggled through a 30 minute bike time trial last night, and still feel weak and groggy. Tried to swim this morning and bagged after 700 yds. I hope that after a couple more easy days and some good nights my head will clear and my energy will return. I hope …
