I cant believe how many obviously overweight triathletes are racing IM Canada. Some are even close to obese! I cant believe the speed they are running also.
Any of them wearing TnT shirts?
we’ve been down this road before…
so what do YOU care?
yes we have but it boggles the mind to be reminded in such “large” quantities…the problem is “reward eating” …" I trained for five hours today so i con cansume five thousand calories!"
.
We have been over this a million times, but now that I’m looking at the video feed… YIKES!!! That is downright scary.

Well TV does add 10 lbs you know. ![]()
Seriously, to the original poster, It’s not the overweight triathletes we should worry about, at least they are doing something. It’s the huge mofos at Disneyland, renting scooters to get around so they can scoot and eat ice cream at the same time, driving up health costs for the rest of us, that piss me off.
I am surprised at the speed of a smart ass comment. Im sorry I havent read EVERY post on ST. hmmm. I view this as an example of how screwed up some triathletes diets are. The High fructose epidemic is what I believe is the cause.
I’m ashamed to admit that was the first thing I noticed when I clicked back on…
Hopefully it’s a wiiiiiide angle lens with some funky camera tricks or something. If not, the market for knee replacements is growing by the moment.
You are quite correct.
No disagreement there but we’re not watching a live feed from Epcot right now, are we? : )

Sorry. My Bad. It’s just that I was at Disneyland last week and can’t get the images out of my head. ![]()
How do these bigger folks even get over Richter Pass and Yellow Lake? They must generate huge watts just to pull themselves up and over.
I’m not taking anything at all away from their ability…I knew a pretty chunky guy who would rip me a new one in sprints some years back but you’re right, it must take some good effort to push a larger frame over those passes.
Hopefully they’re on the path to losing a couple, if not I give’em credit for getting out there and giving it a shot.
Slowtwitch is so fickle. A few months ago there was the “before and after” thread where people were posting their pre-triathlon fat pictures and their post-triathlon skinny pictures and we all marveled at how many of us had lost so much weight and how it was such a great thing.
And then there is this thread, chiding “FAT triathletes.”
So Slowtwitch is a bunch of fickle minded jerks in a way, praising people for loosing weight and doing triathlons, but riducling them at the same time.
Oh, people are just jealous that many of these “fatties” are probably faster than they are.
Of course everyone looks exactly like they really do in person on a crappy camera over the internet.
People are often jerks on this board. I agree… and it can sometimes be disheartening and deflating to read some of the posts on here.
But then when you are at a race or a training event, everyone (for the most part) is so FRICKN nice.
Oh, people are just jealous that many of these “fatties” are probably faster than they are.
Bingo! Besides making fun of fatties is just generally fun to the jock-mentality, I’m sure nothing annoys those same folks than getting passed by a fatty.
As a fatty (as in a have a residual big-fat-beer-looking-gut) I have gotten LOTS of comments (mostly positive) from very fit, strong looking guys as I flew by them on the bike. Yeah, they’ll kick my arse on the run still, but 'eh… gimme time. Last race I was still top 15% swim and 10% bike. So the run… just a matter of time (and loosing MORE weight).
There is something seriously f*cked up about american diet and besides fast food, high fructose corn syrup, and processed EVERYTHING is probably to blame.
Like the freaking Chinese toothpaste deal, just less extreme. They find cheaper ways to give us tastier stuff. And most of the world is too stupid to tell the difference.
It’s a LOT more than just food, there is a whole cultural problem here.
**It’s a LOT more than just food, there is a whole cultural problem here. **
So that whole “More is more” thing is not supposed to apply to chow?

Eh, leave them alone. Think about how much fatter they’d be if they weren’t doing tris.
