I’ve used spds and egg beaters which have been ok but I just ordered bebops looking for something better.
I’ve always likced the sweet looking coombe and m2racer both out of bidness maybe due to high price.

What about the Crank Bros quattro?
That’s my pick…
I second the opinion that speedplays aren’t good for tri’s unless you’re going with the adjustable float for the reasons posted above. But if you’re going for road bike go for it. I run Keo’s on my P2C and speedplays on my road bike. Like someone else said, leave the shoes on the bike and then you won’t have problems.
In recent years I’ve used Speedplay, Look (old style), Look Keo, SPD and Time RSX/RSE
To answer your question, I think Speedplay are far and away the easiset to clip in and out of. With that being said, I’ve personally settled on Look Keo as my pedal of choice.
M2 Racer Orb2. Unavailable, though, but the best engineered, lightest, and easiest to get into pedals you will find.
It’s the getting into them in a hurry that’s scary. No problems with unwanted unclipping, it’s just a small window to hit when you have angry people in metal boxes (cars) waiting for you to clip in.

I never had a problem with that either, although it was a pretty small target. The most common complaint I heard about them was that once the cleats got a little too worn, they wouldn’t release. Thankfully, I never had that problem.
The upside was that they had fantastic cornering clearance, I could pedal through corners that other guys riding Looks and Time’s had to coast through. And for tri’s they were good too, since I could run full speed in the cleats withut worry about slipping and do a nice flying cyclocross style mount coming out of T1.
