Faster wheel setup?

From thosw with some TT wheel experience, which will be the faster setup and by a lot or just a minimal amount?
The 50/85mm setup is more versatile and the wheels could be used on my road bike if needed

or a disc TT specific wheelset - these would be TT wheels only (and tubular).
Would loose the versility, but if they are going to be that much faster, might bee worth it.

From personal experience, I had a HED3 front wheel with a Renn Disc, both clinchers, on my tri bike. I couldn’t really use them on my road bike. I recently sold them and purchased a set of 404’s. Cant explain to you the difference between the wheels. I love the 404 setup. I might consider getting a disc in the future but nothing is pushing me to get one right now.

THe 404 setup is optimal for both uses, road bike and tri bike. The difference is not dramatic no matter what anyone says unless you are at an elite level. Going up a bridge, hill, mountain, the 404’s get you up much faster and you don’t have to worry about the additional weight of a disc. On a flat surface, the disc setup is faster but not dramatically.

I agree, the most economical option is to have a set of 404s and a rear disc. 808s might be harder to ride on a road bike, thats getting to be pretty deep. Somedays you wont want to run a disc in the back so having the aero rear will will serve you well. You could even go with 606s and a disc. My experience is that while a trispoke is really fast in the front, you are better off going with weight savings and versitility.
