Just a quick reminder to the northeast crowd that the Fast Splits Winter Triathlon will be held in Weston, MA this Saturday. This will act as the regional qualifier for the world championships. There will be no race day sign up so please sign up in advance.

Yep, this is a qualifier for Worlds that is happening Feb 22-24 in germany.
Congrats to the Channel Multisport crew, and all the volunteers for a great event in MA yesterday.
The course was just challenging enough, there was just enough snow, and everything ran smooth.
Lets hope for more winter multisport events in New England in the near future.
Congrats to all the first time “winter tri” athletes too!

The regional races qualify the top person (roll to 3rd) in each age group for the worlds? Is that correct?
The regional races qualify the top 2 in each age group and roll down to 5th place. I’ll send the info to USAT today and they will contact those that qualify. They will then have to respond by a certain date to claim there spot. USAT will then contact the people eligible for the roll down spots. I was told this would be a pretty quick process as worlds are in a month.
Prelim results are up on the web the splits and breakdown will follow shortly along with a race report.

Ahhhh, so you mean the Vancouver Worlds? I am currently planning on doing another regional race and was wondering the rules for the '09 Worlds because it is after the '08 Worlds. It seems like the rules are different every year and each race is different and it is hard to keep track 
Winter Triathlon is Run - Mountain Bike - XC Ski all on the snow whereas Vancouver is short course triathlon.
The Fast Splits Winter Triathlon qualified the top 2 people from each age group for the Winter Triathlon World Championships in Freudenstadt, Germany on the 22-24 February, 2008.
When not claimed they will role down to 5th place.
