Fast Eagleman times!

Wow, just looking at some of the finishers I know, I see guys and gals taking 20-30 minutes off last years time. Someone mentioned that the swim was short…has this been confirmed? The swim times seem ridiculous, but some of the bike times from ppl I ride with seem amazing as well. Maybe everyone just trained alot harder. Feel free to speculate. Congrats to all Eaglemen and women of course. Our own Flanagan put it all together and ran a great half to end in 4:14 I believe. Just awesome !!!And you know that guy didn’t draft. Probably pulling the whole age group like Clearwater.

If you catch a good day on the swim (either short course or minimal chop), no wind on the bike and temps not too hot this course is as fast as they get. Some years the heat and/or wind can slow the times by 10-15 minutes or more.

They said on IM live that there was a strong current pushing people towards the finish. Not sure if that helped.

Something is wrong indeed as the swim and run times are crazy.

Herbert

If it was a cool(er) day the run times seem pretty spot on to me but those swims are about 2-4 mins off the usual.

Have the results been posted yet?

Nothing is wrong. It’s just a very fast course. Maybe the current was pushing the swimmers to a fast finish, if so then good for them. I’d be willing to bet that the distances are spot on. This is an old race and the distances have been set for quite a few years. IMlive websight says that Natasha Badman’s time was a world’s best but I don’t think that TJ Tollakson’s 3:46:58 was even a men’s course record. I think someone, maybe Chris Leigh went 3:45:xx about three years ago.

Well, they 54 minute run time they are crediting Chris McDonald with is almost certainly off.

ST’er caiazzo raced to a 4th overall, not bad for a washed up 9-5’er and father!

I hear he’s been training at altitude and eating Chinese worm cocoons… and the pose method isn’t hurting too!

(Best Homer Simpson voice) Mmmmm…Chinese worm cocoons…Mmmmmm

the island friend who is going to teach me how to cycle this summer did a 5:06 and change. We’re trading cycling lessons for swimming lessons

I think DeBoom has course record at 3:44:XX with a sick 1:13 run.

5:06 at Eagleman…they might need some cycling lessons too:-) (ok that was a bit mean)

That was mean. Tsk tsk.

His bike split was 2:39, which is about forty minutes faster than my bike split last weekend, so I should be able to learn something. Right?

sure.

3rd place M25-29 AG’er ran a 1:13 today to, beating all the pros. Sick.

The reasons the times are so fast is because it was perfect conditions for the race. Cloud cover all day, wind never got above 10 mph, no chop. I took 27 minutes off my PR. Natascha set a World Record at the distance. Everyone was flying. It was a perfect day.

Also for the swim…you basically go strait out, make a left hand turn and swim diagonal into the beach…the first 40% you had a side current and after the turn the current was pushing you…

As for the bike and run, there was cloud cover and the heat didnt get to intense, much different than recent years.

definitely fast today, but same exact course as past 3 years. fun day!
