OK - In general I fart a lot - but…
Sometimes when I run I fart a whole lot.
Anyone else have this issue? Does not hurt but is a bit annoying. Any solutions??
FYI - ladies I am on the market, free and single - obviously quite a catch ;}

Fructose can be a cause of excess gas and intenstinal distress - are you eating or drinking something made with fructose? BTW - common table sugar is 50% fructose. Here is an article that may help: http://www.intelihealth.com/IH/ihtIH/WSIHW000/9339/9999.html
Are you taking protein supplements? They can cause gas problems.
When riding the bike just claim it’s a squeaky seat post.
Think of it as a nitrous shot, and save it up for when you really need it. Only you know how many shots you’ve got in the bottle
same thing happens to me. Its not my diet, or the exertion, on the bike or swim i have no problems, and in normal life i have no real problems. But when i start running, about 3 miles in, when im nice and warmed up, i have a storm of farts, which then go away, and im fine. I think it has to do with the fact that my stomach and innards get sloshed around, at least thats what it feels like.
Just look up in the air and exclaim “Boy those ducks are pretty abundant and loud around here!”.
I seem to have acquired the disease as well but only since I started using Accelerade while running. I don’t know if it’s the protien content but I’ve seen a significant increase in the amount of greenhouse gases I emit. I don’t notice it so much on the the bike which is too bad as I was condsidering igniting the emissions and using them as a JATO rocket.
Farts are sh&* without the mess…
Seriously though; Think of your digestive system as an internal combustion engine. When you see black smoke out of the tail pipe of a car or motorcycle; that’s unburned fuel. The spark igniting the air/fuel mixture is not hot enough, so there is not a complete burn, hence the black smoke.
Farts are the partially unburned air/fuel mixture coming out of your tailpipe. Eating too many carbs might be the problem…or, you’re putting the equivalent of 87 octane in an engine that requires 102 octane. Eat the right amount of high quality food and your farting problem will go away.
I once ran 23 footstrikes farting the whole way. In college I farted so much after XC races no one wanted to ride back in the same van.
let em rip!
Got the same problem. Not ususally a problem, unless I’m running inside on a treadmill… that’s what I call pain…
If you fart after taking in fluid it may be that your gulping air with the fluid and that can cause gas.
I think it’s a pretty common occurrence from the people I have spoken to.
I always get the fart per foot strike effect which lasts anywhere up to 15 strikes.
I find I am way more gassy after the pool. Everytime I come home I let em rip for the next hour. Not sure if it’s got anything to do with swallowing water??
I say let em rip.
Its a sign of health, I just hate it when a new girl comes over and I get a case of the farts, very embarrasing.
Your problem is called “crop dusting” and us slower runners don’t appreciate it!
funniest moment in a forgettable movie was when jack black ran up to - was it ben stiller? - in a gallery coctail party and said “dude we’ve got to go. I just sharted.” That was worth the entire price of the movie. FYI, just be glad you are fart’in and not shart’in!
I fart often. Even more when I run. Funny thing during the 2nd half marathon at IMFL this year, I had such gas build up I had to pull up a few times to let it out. One time, a 40 year old guy passed me just as I ripped one, and he said “after all these years, that’s still pretty funny.”
That wasn’t jack black, that was the dood from Patch Adams…what was his name? The movie was Along Came Polly.
I guess lactose intolerant. Lay off dairy for a week and see if it helps.
When some slapper joins my back wheel out on the road I always try and let a stinker go to discourage such bludging.
It may be related at least partially to diet. Maltodextrin, the most popular ingredient in many gu’s and energy bars, is readily fermented by the critters in your gut, wo that probably contributes to the problem somewhat.
I think, though, that this is pretty normal.
