Okay, wifey and I watch the news every night prior to bed. The weather moron always shows the national map with temp. It seems like Fargo is almost always in negative numbers temp wise. Well to be fair, occassionally it warms up and its in the single digits.
So, my question is why the fuck would anybody live there. What is there in or around this god forsaken place that would make somebody want to brave those ungodly temps.
We have friends from there , its a hard working grain growing area ( use to be ) . These are northern euro types , cold , its a relative term ,Yaaah know

I’d ask the same question of about why anyone would voluntarily live where there is snow. Unless you enjoy skiing why would you subject yourself to the misery of winter? My hats off to those of you in Hawaii. You are my heroes.
It’s the Arizona of the north. Couple months out of the year things grow, the rest of the year everything frozen. No more itchy eyes.
Realistically I doubt most of them even notice it. All you have to do is spend a couple seasons some place or grow up there and “That’s normal” to you.
As a friend of mine always said “I’ll take the cold over the hot any day of the week, you can always put MORE cloths on”

Seasonality. Without winter and snow, we couldn’t have the springs we have…

That is like saying if somebody didn’t whack me up side the head all day, I wouldn’t have the pleasure I get out of them stopping at night.

I plead mental illness. Knowing that I am a diehard Lionis fan pretty much should tell you all you need to know.
A few years ago I got a call at work from a cheery lady who said she was from the Fargo chamber of commerce and could offer big tax breaks if we were to move the company there. Hmmm…Fargo or North County San Diego? After a split-second of analysis and without consulting the owner of the company I said no thank you and hung up the phone.
A few years ago I flew in to Fargo (summer) and saw a display stand in the airport from the local Chamber- a t-shirt displayed had the following logo “Minus 20 - keeps the riff raff out!!” Still makes me smile.
A rather trolling post, but there’s a lot of reason to enjoy, live, work, play and visit Fargo. There is actually a VERY VERY fast triathlete in Fargo…but I forget his name. Someone will chime in.
Low crime?
Low umemployment?
Good air?
Affordable housing?
List goes on…minus the fact that winter could suck.
