Farewell Black Sabbath

Ozzy reunited with Black Sabbath for one last show. He’s in declining health and was only able to do a short set. He’s off to spend time with the grandkids, good for him.

I just listened to Black Sabbath, it still holds up. They changed things.

I listened to a youtube video of War Pigs last night of this concert. I had to turn it off, couldn’t (or didn’t want to) get through it. It was bad. Ozzy not doing great. I’d rather just remember it as it was.

A friend is a HUGE Sabbath fan and bought the streaming package to watch it live (he wanted to fly over but I and another friend couldn’t swing it so he stayed here and watched live online instead).
A few months ago he told us he thought Tool would play Hand of Doom. I was sitting on the beach Saturday morning and all of a sudden my phone starts going off with him texting “DUDES!! TOOL ARE PLAYING HAND OF DOOM RIGHT FUCKING NOW!!”
Pretty funny, we were getting text updates from him throughout the day and they made less and less sense as the day went on.

Yeah, he’s not doing well. I’m glad they limited his set to just a few songs.

I agree, it’s best to remember him as one the best frontmen metal/rock has ever seen. That voice was truly unique and powerful.

I didn’t watch it live, but have seen many of the performances on social media. Really great show. I thought Ozzy sounded decent during his solo set, but yeah the Black Sabbath set wasn’t great. So many of the other acts rocked it. The supergroup performance with Disturbed singer was awesome. Lamb of God was the worst, IMO.

Just to close this thread out, here’s War Pigs in Paris circa 1970.

BLACK SABBATH - “War Pigs” (Live Video)

Luvya Ozzy

I thought his performance of Mama… had that Johnny Cash Hurt feel to it, and judging from the emotional response in the crowd they did too.

Ozzy is legend. I hope his time left treats him kindly.

Thanks for the pics, I hadn’t seen those before. They are so young here!

Had no idea who this guy was before, but he took on a tough one and nailed it.

Anyone saying that Ozzy sounded even mediocre, let alone good or great, is either deaf or delusional. He sounded absolutely fucking horrible. Unlistenable even. Understandable given his health problems and age but it was still complete shit.

agree.

He was in very poor mental and physical health during The Osbournes—and that was over 20 years ago.

That was awesome, thanks! It gave me a chill when the audience started singing along.

Saw sabbath twice - first time was when VH opened, then with Dio on the Black & Blue tour

That was a good read, thanks. I’m not surprised that the author gave a shout-out to Yungblud for his great rendition of Changes.
