I had that choice last nite. I went with Addai…why? He is finally out of Edgerrin James shadow and is now the man. Addai has something to prove. I love picking guys like that b/c they usually produce for you. Peyton said that Addai is the man. Now coach said they will still go with a 2 back system, but we all know who really runs that team ![]()
I also got a late pick of Jerious Norwood (the hawks running back). With Vick gone, the new QB will be frazzled and they will no doubt be running alot. I got him in like the 13th round too.
Good luck

Addai at 4?? What!!
Depends on scoring and number of teams, but my draft board looks like this LT, LJ, Manning, Jackson
I was at like 9th slot yesterday. Our league is heavy on running. Noone even picked a QB until the 2nd round.
wow…nice pick up at 13. most drafts usually have norwood going in round 5 (these are 14 team drafts). i’m kinda leaning towards addai by a hair.
Yah…someone mentioned that noone had picked any falcons yet. I was thinking “man…without vick, its gonna be a disaster…so what are they gonna do…run.”
Either way, he’s my 4th back so it cant hurt.
From rotowire on Addai
Aug 22 Addai could be set to get the vast majority of snaps this season and be the every-down back, Peyton Manning told the NFL Network. “This year Joseph Addai is ready to carry that load and be that one back starter and be able to come out whenever he wants to come out,” Manning said. “He deserves that chance to be the featured back, to be in there on the goal-line drives, the red zone situations, the key two-minute drills … he’ll be on the field.”
Recommendation: Manning’s comments certainly are different than talk from the coaching staff earlier this spring that they’d stick to a two-back system with a second back getting a healthy amount of carries each game. If Addai gets the vast majority of touches in the Indy offense (like the heavy workload Edgerrin James once received), he could easily become a top-five running back.

I don’t play fantasy football but it seems to me if I were the falcons opponents I woudn’t worry about the pass so much with Vick gone (plus they can play a more normal pass defense as no one is the run threat he is) then concentrate on defending the run. This will cause the falcons to pass to loosen up the run defense or they will fall behind a lot and what are they going to have to do then? Pass. I bet they pass a lot more than everyone thinks they will.
Addai…
And if anyone else thinks Manning should be going #3, I may have an extra spot open in our league that is drafting next week. I could always use the extra money.
Addai is going to be big. I had Ed James year after year and things would be great until they go inside the red zone and they brought in Dominic Rhodes. No Rhodes = all Addai. However, Indy’s division should be tougher this year…even if teams in their division do not reflect it. Especially Jax. Therefore…they may air it out more. But make no mistake about it…Frank Gore will be a pimp too.
A good pick-up for teams playing in a 10-12 man league could be Brian Leonard from the Rams. He looks pretty decent in the preseason and could get some touches as the year goes on.
I’m in a new 6 team only league this year so all of our squads will be loaded. I pick 5th and hope to hell Reggie Bush is still there. We are scoring return yards. At worst I should get Shawn Alexander with my 2nd.
Any Cardinal fans out there? Is there offense line still horrible. They made Ed James look like complete shit last year. I might be able to snag him with my 3rd pick though.
Well, as usual I have a different take on this.
Look at the delta’s Where is the biggest fall off going to happen. Ya it may be the TE. #1 gets you 100pts for the yr and 2-5 get you 50. Sure that RB will score 300 but 3 backs lower will score 280 so not much of a drop.
Anyhow, the league I play in has some odd scoring anyhow, but just a different thought.
Ok heres why you go with Gore, and its probably too late but ill tell you anyway…Manning is talking about breaking his 2004 season numbers in which he through for 4000+ yrds and 49 Td’s, word is that Anthony Gonzalez is a faster and stronger version of Stokley who is in Denver now i think…If this is true then yea Addai(sp) will get about 1300 yds and 7-10 Tds. With Gore your getting a back who is gonna carry 25-30 times a game plus can catch the ball out of the backfield. He can break a long run and is big in goal line situations. Young Qb who is gonna need the help to keep a balanced offense and a Fantasy owner is gonna much benefit from Gore than Addai…With the 4th pick i would taken LJ or Manning if available…take a RB in the second rd…PM ill send you a link to my team i won 2 yrs in a row lol
I agree, with a guy that airs it out as much as Peyton, the RB is going to be second fiddle.
thanks, i’m still wavering between gore and addai. i think lj has been beaten up too much the last couple of years (over 800 carries) and his offensive lineman studs are gone. he’ll still have a good year, but i don’t think like the last couple.

last year everyone was hyping Ronnie Brown and Cadillac Williams as the new stars coming up in 2006. What happened? Both were picked high in all drafts and both flopped. Addai and Gore have tons of potential and I can’t see either of them flopping like those two losers from last year, but I’d have a hard time taking either of them over LJ or SA (who’s been absent from this conversation thus far).
I’m so glad football’s back and I think the days leading up to and the day of my FF draft are the best part of the fantasy football season!
good luck!
If hes available i would still take LJ cuz the guy is gonna be carrying the load since Brodie Croyle is gonna start barring an injury tonight or next wk, he does start slow though. Also Brian Westbrook, Willis McGahee, Steven Jackson and watch out for Laurence Maroney in latr rds…Also Clinton Portis might have season ending shoulder surgery but thats only been mentioned once, Pickup Ladell Betts from waivers after the draft lol just in case cuz that guy put up numbers last yr… if not take a QB…Manning, Brady and Palmer are gonna be sick this yr
Gore is already a star. He had huge numbers last year, and the offense is perfect for him. He is a clear cut top 4, and the only reason he isn’t number 2 is the injury risk.
in RB heavy league, what about sean alexander v. Gore?
the problem with Alexander is we dont know how his foot is…last reports were that it still had a stress fracture yet he has taken i think 4-7 carries per game this preseason, its a gamble to take him early just like Clinton Portis…Gore is a better bet this yr.
