Hello Ericlambi,
What were pros and cons of cover?
Was it easy to attach and did it stay attached?
Why are you selling it?
I am thinking of getting one.
Cheers,
Neal
I used to sell the covers, mostly for use with PowerTaps. This is just a leftover that I need to get out of my basement.
It is easy to attach and stays attached fine. The cons are that . . .
you have to take the cassette on and off to take the cover off
the cover only works well with box-type rims (Mavic Open Pro). Further, even if you have the right rim, some covers will still interfere with the braking surface and require a small amount of cutting or brake adjustment.
the covers aren’t extremely durable and don’t take abuse very well, especially not the carbon ones.
Overall, the covers are very fast. If you are considering this, I think it would work well with a Mavic Open Pro built into a Dura Ace or Ultegra hub. You’d end up with a serviceable (truable) disc with a high-end hub for very little $$.
Hi EricLambi: does the auction include covers for both sides of the wheel. I assume ‘yes’ but I just want to make sure. Can the wheel covers be cut to fit deep-section wheels like a Zipp 404? I have been thinking about getting some wheel covers from Wheel Builder, which he cuts to fit a 404, but your carbon covers might be lighter. Thanks, Adrian.
Hi Adrian-
Unless you are some kind of DIY genius, I would not buy the cover planning to cut it down for a Zipp 404. I’d say 95% chance that you ruin it.
It is definitely a lot lighter than the wheelbuilder, but I’d look at it this way . . . if you are doing a race where you are worried about the extra weight, then you could just as easily ride without the cover at all.
Eric
so the carbon is less durable than the plastic in your opinion?
Also, do you have an PTs left! PM me with details.
Thanks a lot,
Dan

I’m looking for one of these, carbon or plastic, for my girlfriend’s bike. If anyone has a line on one I will do what I can to reward you well with bike shop goodies.
Thanks,
Justin
