I’m on happy SOB right now! I haven’t raced since duathlon worlds 2002 for a number of reasons. This weekend I raced twice on the new TT bike & disc. The first was a 20k TT, didn’t stick around for results but caught 6 of the 7 people ahead of me who left at 1 min intervals. Couldn’t catch the tandem.
Today did a duathlon and was pressured for the first 2 miles on the run which felt good.
Ended up winning by a few ticks over 5min.
It felt soooooo good to put out the efforts required as well as feel the pain and pleasure of racing again. Coming out on top was just icing on the cake.
Congrats. Sounds like desert dude is back. We also had a great weekend. Ran a 5 kms with the wife today and she was the first woman over all. She beat me of course but I had my PB 5 km time and won my AG, the first time ever I’ve done anything like that in a running race. Of course it was just a local “C” level fun race and nothing special but we had a lot of fun. Went for lunch and a beer afterwards and then did a ride later in the afternoon. It was a great day!
Way to go desert Dude!!! Sounds like you are back on top!!! It is great to get that old feeling back again doesnt it? I too had a great weekend. Did my first bike race yesterday afternoon after doing a 2 hour trail run that morning. It was nice just pushing all day!!! Good luck to you and keep us posted on how you keep doing. Great job again… Have a great one…

What duathlon did you do? The only races I knew of today were the Glendale CC Tri and the Splash n Dash. S n D was good. A lot more of the local heavies were out there. Had a nice little pack of runners the first lap of the run. It’ll be interesting to see the splits.
Also, a female pro named Amity Hall took 1st for the women. I had to start thinking of baseball when she ran by me.

There was a small tri/du at eldorado aquatic center in scottsdale.
Are you Edwin L? If you are you just nipped me by 3 seconds according to the times. I was 29:43. Funny, I did not see anyone so close.
Wow, good job! We gotta hookup for some rides next time I’m in Tucson!
That was me, and you’re right, I don’t remember anyone that close behind me. The official race time agreed with my watch though.
