Extending aerobic volume on long days

That says doing training volume WITHOUT getting faster. Kind of stupid way of training. I think volume is a bad measure of training load, but you make a good point that most people do not have a high enough training volume.

All training that does not make you faster, is killing something.

Measuring volume is actually pretty effective if you remain conisistent in your efforts. I’ve managed to remain injury-free and continue to improve for years now, without spending a lot of time crunching numbers or worrying about plans. Now, could I get the same effect from maybe 12-14 hours of training as I do with 16 if I did some specific workouts instead of just going out and running or riding? Probably, but I like to run and ride, so I don’t mind the extra time.
