wouldn’t be surprised if it was mechanical contractor/boiler related. Lots of repair/retrofits to schools during summer.

Given what I do for a living, my worst nightmare…

Yeah, that’s not far from where I live - the school’s on a very popular running/biking road here in the city, so I’m often going past it…

My next-door neighbor’s house was leveled 8 years ago in a massive gas explosion (fortunately no one killed or seriously injured), and my house was extensively damaged too.

My understanding is that the cap at the bottom of the sediment-trap portion of their gas line going to the furnace somehow came off, resulting in a very fast & big gas leak.

Maybe something similar in this case?

Thoughts and prayers to the victims here - gas explosions are scary shit, no doubt!

The footage is awful. Those poor babies.

I know people that have attended and taught there. I wonder if the casualties are friends of friends. I hope the missing are found alive. What a scary thing for kids and families getting ready to attend in a month.

As hydro said, its on the most well known running/cycling route in the cities. Its about mile 17 of the marathon, its on the lifetime tri bike route, there is a coffee shop basically across the street where cyclists gather for rides. I bet they get a lot of community support from the enormous number of people who pass by it everyday.

Two confirmed dead. A secretary, and a janitor.
The janitor was 81, attended the school, and was like a grandfather to the students.

A scoccer coach is in the hospital.

To be confirm but some officials are suspecting a contractor working on the building ruptured a gas line.
