Experiences with CooSpo

I always see this stuff on Amazon. WAY cheaper than the name brand stuff that seems to be riddled with bugs no matter who you go with (currently fuming at my expensive h10 that worked once with pointless trouble shooting form Polar).

Are these guys any good? Amazon reviewers seem to think so but I don’t always trust the sites as they can control their own review flow. And I may or may not have written fake reviews for a dollar in the past on survey sites…

To add. If DC Rainmaker is listening or if it’s an article I just can’t find this would be an awesome review. Chest strap and arm band.

I have two hr monitors I bought in 2019 and a USB dongle I bought in 2020. Other than changing the batteries in the monitors, they have worked flawlessly.

I bought one as a backup so I’ve only used it about a dozen times…works well.

I have gone through two of their HR chest straps - each one lasted around a year of use, which was in the 600-700 hours of use range. For the price, that’s pretty darn good, and very reliable data. Unfortunately, one conked out when I was in St. George for the WC, and the only HR strap I could find was a $100 Garmin dual band one, which I’m currently using. I did buy and have an unused CooSpoo strap that will be my backup when the Garmin one dies.

It won’t last forever, but does the same thing the Garmin strap does at a significant cost savings.

Before my smart trainer I had a speed/cadencne sensor that worked well - attachments were a bit wonky, and the zip ties were cheap, but the thing worked. I also have their HR strap and it has yet to fail me, just the standard battery change. I have no idea why I’d spend 2-3x on a “name” brand HR strap.

I have two chest strap style heart monitors and they have worked flawlessly.

I have a BT HR monitor and it works well. No complaints. Crucially it also reports the beat to beat variation (some don’t), which you need to measure HR Variability.

I have one and have had less issues with it then my wahoo.

Not to mention that these cheap HR monitors have replaceable straps so when you wear out the strap but the electronics are still working, you can spend $10 on a new strap instead of the $70-100+ that Garmin wants you to spend to buy a whole new strap/monitor every 2 years electronics since the straps aren’t replaceable…

Also, you’re less likely to have issues after battery replacements if the straps have the quarter turn battery cover and gasket than the stupid 4 little screws that Garmin keeps using, and which easily damage the plastic screw posts when you’re screwing everything tightly back together…

Do they survive a swim? They say not to swim with them but I usually wear my Hr strap under my kit during a race so I don’t have to put it on in transition.

I have never tried them in the water, I do not believe they would hold up to being submerged. The battery compartment does not appear to be sealed for total submersion.

I have used mine in a triathlon a few times, always putting on before the swim. Worked fine for me.

I purchased the Coospo BC107 Bicycle computer with their BK8 dual speed and cadence sensor from Amazon. I use it on my daily commute with my road bike. Works great with no problems. I like how the display’s backlight automatically turns on and stays on depending on the time of day. So my early morning rides I can always see the screen. Battery life is close to the 24 hours it is rate for. The screen isn’t customizable like my Garmin Edge but it has everything on the screen and with the price I paid for it I’m okay with it. The sensor automatically pairs with my Garmin Fenix and Edge when I use those for my workout tracking. But I’ve only had it for two months I can’t talk about the longevity for it. Overall I’m impressed with value for this computer and sensor.

Update been using my Coospo since I wrote this and this thing is stupid solid. Never had a delay or a drop out of any kind. No spikes no anything. These things are awesome.

BUMP:

Have you compared to other HR straps? I haven’t yet but intend to do so & am curious if others already have. (Doesn’t look like DC Rainmaker will be comparing any time soon).

Kind of. I didn’t do a DC Rainmaker wearing 4 devices style. But I didn’t the same workout at the same power and it was close to what Wahoo said. Actually it showed even the drops in power as well as spikes.

Tried to post pics but for some reason would attach. But they were within about 5 beats of each other. Being on different days it’s kind of hard to judge accuracy but it was a trainer workout. Two steps up one step back style. Coospo actually shows drops in HR on the back. Did this workout tons of times never seen it so apparent.

Thanks. Power is the marker of accuracy!

P.S. Interested in their upcoming power meter. (For MTB.)

I got Coospo HW807 (a dual ANt+ Bt5 arm band) and quitted garmins chaffing, premium chaffing and TRIchaffing band forever.

I could tell after pairing a chest strap to my fenix watch and the coospo to my edge head unit that has the exact same precision and improved signal. I still use a 4is Viiiiva chestrap on zwift to pair my old srm powermeter with the ilink but tested bluetooth conectuion woring perfectly as well.

instructions manual is in chinese o korean and could not find out how to customize the five heart rate zones to my will but still use the 180bpm vibration alert while playing racket sports or sprinting to slow down/rest and have my breath back. (vibration and lights turns also handy to make sure your have turned ON or OFF)

overall I strongly recomend it!

would love DCrainmaker to make a full review on it
