Look CX-7 Ti pedals- $600
Rocket 7 shoes- $560
TOTAL FOOT COST- $1160
That’s a lot of money to spend on your feet. Now, my flat, bony feet would love a pair of custom shoes, but what makes the CX-7 worth six hundred bucks?

pedicure - $40

then at least your feet will look like they deserve all the fancy things they are getting!
What about socks?
I know you aren’t going to ride $1200 worth of carbon-plastic with out some facny looking socks.
How about spending $3000 on ESWT when I had PF not covered by insurance… at least it worked.

Believe me, I’m not ever going to ride $1200 bucks of carbon-plastic on my feet, period.
But I already got some fancy socks!
Hey, I’m glad it worked for your plantar fasciitis. I do this procedure, and I like to hear anecdotal evidence of its success.
think the r7 shoes are spendy? check out:

ouch, but I keep coming back to them (after sidis, 2 pairs of carnacs, and a 3 day pair of shimanos that STILL cause me pain)…
Careful what you say about your feet around here - it’s a tough crowd.
The thing I’ve never been able to figure out, is WHY Lust shoes are so much more expensive than R7’s… (And if they’re worth the difference)
cool looking skates

I will never understand why more people aren’t wearing cutom shoes. We drop $5000 on bike but won’t spend a grand or less where our bodies meet the machine. I think a shoe upgrade is way more important then a bike upgrade.
Don’t even get me started on peple saving wieght on saddles.

You’re a genius.
I don’t know if a shoe upgrade is way more important then a bike upgrade or not- depends on the shoe and the bike being upgraded, I guess- but I definitely think the importance of good shoes are underrated. (I’m guilty of this myself, as I ride in pretty cheap shoes. On the other hand, I don’t think the expensive shoes fit that much better.)
I can definitely see the value in a custom shoe. If I had the money, I wouldn’t even feel to bad about dropping seven or nine hundred bucks for those LUST shoes. They’re sweet.
Six hundred dollar pedals, on the other hand . . . I dunno. Can’t see what benefit would justify that.
No pedal is worth $600.
I don’t understand why more people don’t go to a wind tunnel either. People drop $2k on a set of zipps that will make them go a few seconds faster, for $750 you can drop minutes.
I agree no pedal is worth $600.
Great point. I think we become in love with toys and never figure out how to use them right.
We love our possessions.
Triathlons are like beauty pageants. We show up at races and immediately start checking out everyone else’s stuff. “Well, I’ve got better wheels than him but he has better cranks. I’ll order some on monday.”
Buying something gives us a tangible object. Who notices people’s position on the bike?

The wind and Slowman. I notice if cute ladies are on the bike.
I bought a pair of rocket 7 shoes in 2000. At the time, I was looking at orthotics and new shoes costing $500+ and weighing only slightly less than my volkwagen.
I went with the rocket7 to handle everything. Perfect fit, superlight. The best cycling purchase I ever made.
I’m still riding the same pair. I had some crash related damage 2 years ago, and they fixed it for a very reasonable fee.
