Excess glue on tubulars

I glued my first pair tubulars a year ago and used waaaaaaayyyy too much glue than I should have. A newbie mistake just trying to be safe. =)

But anyways, I got new tubular tires that I need to put on. I got my old tires off and found that all that extra glue I put on is still on the rim. Is there a way I can take this off or does it not matter and I can just glue over it?

If there’s way too much on the rims, 3M adhesive remover should take off the glue.

someone suggested Bestone, in a post ~2 months ago. (Goo
Gone, takes off all kinds of sticky stuff–you might try that.)

in case they are zipps, zipp said it is fine to use acetone on their wheels.
