Everybody´s talking `bout Björn

but the real Überbiker of the season seems to be Torbjørn Sindballe. He rode as fast as Björn at the LD Worlds last year, finished second of the bike on Hawaii, had the fastest bikesplit at wildflower (faster than Stadler and Björn and way faster than Lessing). So what´s up with you guys, why don´t you discuss his bike, the Argon 18, a rather sheapish but fast (?) frame, his setup, his position, tested in a windtunnel a few weeks ago and as far as I heard close to perfect, and his performance overall?

Don´t get me wrong. I like Björn and find it cool that he hits this board from time to time. I´m just wondering why you guys (almost) ignore the current LD World Champion, Hawaii 6th, and fastest rider of the season.

Regards

Martin

As far as I know he doesn’t post here, everybody likes to root for the hometown heros.

Wasn’t Sindballe on a Kestrel Airfoil Pro in Hawaii last year? I remember thinking that it was good for kestrel to have at least one top cyclist under sponsorship, but I guess that was shortlived.

Drop probably not as huge as Bjorn. More fun to talk about huge drop. Also Torbjorn probably did it w/o RC - also not as much fun…but faster.

How do you make the 2 dots over the O in bjorn???

.

People are impressed by what they are familiar with not at fast times. Sindballe also won Ralph’s this year by a comfortable margin.

Do you have any pics of Sindballe? I have no idea what he looks like on a bike. It’s always interesting to see what various people are doing.

I also remember reading he has a vo2max of like 87 ml/kg/min

There is a pic of him in the wind tunnel on Argons website…www.argon18bike.com

Sindballe can actually run too.

Very clean position there in the wind tunnel. I guess he’s really serious about winning Kona.

No – wait! His heel is up! Saddle too high!

In his case that is OK cause he has no hump on his back ;).

Looks like a P2K imitation…without the cool Cervelo stickers

I do like the aero seat stays, even if they are a waste of time IMHO.

Now that we’re on the topic – I compared my knee and foot angle to his. His saddle is lower than mine (on a relative basis). Perhaps I am too high. I lowered it 1.5 cm for this morning’s ride. It felt fine, but I notice that it’s lower. I found myself scooting back on the saddle to get more leg extension on the one long climb. I’ll roll with it for a while and see what happens.

…all I can say, is that we sure have lots of cool bikes coming out of Canada…Argon, Cervelo and Guru really kick ass. Almost as much as having 4 out of the top 6 women at Wildflower this weekend…Go Canada (and all athletes on Canuck bikes including Bjorne and Torbjorne)

If Bjorne = Bear

than what does TorBJORNE =

Perhaps Mr. Sindballe will drop in and give un an update !

thunder bear.

These Viking dudes all have very cool names. And they are biking quicker than the Germans (almost)

Are you the same Ashburn who writes the financial advisor column? If so, thanks for a great column! Really gives me a good perspective on all the confusion out there regarding the stock market right now.

Anyway, back on topic, do you measure your knee angle, hip angle, etc with an angle-measuring device like a goniometer? If so, what’s your knee angle now compared to the previous set-up? I’ve been through FIST certification and was just curious.

I am no bike techy but from a lay person that looks like the most aerodynamic and comfortable position I have ever seen.
