Ever have to pop a bone back in the socket?

Totally off any topic, but kinda injury cool. I disclocated and fractured my pinky on monday and ended up popping it back in the socket to avoid having to go to the ER at 5am. Well, it kept popping out, so I had to reset it three more times, before I went to the doc to find out that I broke a peice of bone also and now I am just hoping to avoid surgery if the bone won’t stay put where it’s supposed to.

Got me thinking and wondering if anyone had any good, “I had to pop this bone back in…” stories.

Happy Friday.

Off to Pumpkinman in the morning and first time in Maine.

shoulder a couple times, but not for years. I think swimming has helped strengthen some ancillary muscles and helped stabilize my shoulders.

Three of them.

#1. While packing for the move from San Diego to Boston, I clipped my little toe on a box. Little fella was sticking straight out to the side. After setting in back, I just wore a sock at all times to keep in in place and it healed up just fine.

#2. Indoor rock climbing wall. I was about 14years old and this local legand climber fell right in front of me. He shoved his foot up in my face screaming pull it back in, pull it back in! His foot was on the inside of his leg. I freaked out, grabbed his ankle and pulled. POP! just popped right back in. Then I puked on him.

#3. Friends riding a couple of good climbs around boulder. One fella reached for his bottle right when someone attacked. In his hurry to get the bottle back in and stand up, his right pinkey hooked his hood and popped his finger. He yelped but kept going When we got to the top, he stuck his hand out and his lillte finger was stiching straigt out to the side. He rode with it like that for a while. Buddy pulled it back in and kept riding.

I once broke my femoral neck in a bicycle race but persisted in trying to continue while my leg just sort of flopped around as I attempted to pedal…does that count?

Got a few. I’ve had to put my shoulder back in many many times, literally around 40 times racing motocross before I had it put back together. My tib/fib/ankle displaced and I had to set it myself. That was the worst one. My thumb a few times as well.

Oh, one more I forgot about. I dislocated a rib from my spine once. Had to have my ortho put that one back in for me though.

yep, shoulder a couple times and fingers a few times. It friggin’ hurts. The shoulder especially.

I dislocated my wrist during my brown belt test a few years ago. Didn’t notice it until I was driving home and realized my right wrist didn’t look like my left. Just gave it a yank at a stop light and POP right back in! Then I raced on it the next week. I’ve also set several of my broken fingers myself and glued shut some splits above my eye. When I was younger I wanted to be an orthopedic surgeon but realized I hated school with a passion.

Shoulder for me too (Mountain bike injury). But like Saltman said I think swimming has strengthened it up. Hasn’t popped out in years.

my thumb dislocates every once in a while.
