Of course there is a double standard. Tyler is American, so he is loved by everyone. Beke isn’t, so, he is not loved by anyone. If you don’t love Tyler, you are part of the Axis of Evil, and you will be invaded. Maybe if you picked up a newspaper once in a while I wouldn’t have to explain this… 
Tyler hasn’t been convicted of anything. Charged with, alleged to, yes.
Where is it that Beke is said to be a cheat? LVL–well, maybe when he finishes another race then we can talk.
FYI–I still haven’t made up my mind about Tyler, though I still think he was dumb to leave CSC and Bjarne. Francois, you sound like sour Euro grapes here.

No, European dopers are hated by everyone, with the exception of those in the AoE, who love European dopers just because it pisses off Americans.
I in no way think Tyler is a hero. However he is at the top of a sport I love to follow. Hence it would be great to spend an evening listening to some inside information on the pro peleton and the lifestyle they lead. I think it would be great to spend some time with Rutger in the same manner.

I’m a fan of Tyler’s and I never said that (I didn’t go that either). So maybe you want to correct that and all the other gross exagerations you’ve written.

Come on, Francois, this is the exact same thing that goes on in Europe. For the love of God, Virenque makes a coke mule look like a nun and he’s a freaking French icon.
I’m not saying that Tyler should be treated as a hero. But in’t not just us yanks who have a double standard.

You missed one additional difference between Tyler and Beke. Tugboat.
Tyler had Tugboat so he is innocent. Beke hates dogs (he is European) and therefore, he is obviously guilty.
This case is easier than anything Matlock has ever solved!

IOC president Jacques Rogge says he regrets the failures in the testing procedures in Athens that allowed Tyler Hamilton to keep his time trial gold medal.

The fall-out from Tyler Hamilton’s three failed blood tests at the Olympic Games and Tour of Spain is failing to abate, with International Olympic Committee president Jacques Rogge admitting on Sunday that the American’s time trial gold medal is tainted, writes Justin Davis.
Rogge is the second top level official to speak out about the suspended Phonak team rider’s failed blood test at the Athens Olympics after World Anti-Doping Agency president Dick Pound’s attack on the American a fortnight ago.
Hamilton’s A sample following his time trial win in the Greek capital showed evidence of blood doping. The 33 year old’s B sample could not be tested because it had been stored incorrectly at the IOC’s Athens laboratory. Hamilton was allowed to keep his gold medal from Athens because the B sample must back up the A sample before a positive test can be confirmed. Both an A and a B sample taken from Hamilton at the Vuelta in September showed evidence of blood doping.
But, according to IOC chief Rogge in an interview with French newspaper Le Journal de Dimanche, Hamilton’s Olympic victory will be forever tainted. “The A sample was positive. Following what must be called a frustrating error by the Athens laboratory, the B sample could not be tested,” said Rogge. “It’s something I will always regret, but by rights the athlete can keep his gold medal. It’s now up to the world to decide what kind of value Tyler Hamilton’s medal actually holds.”
WADA president Pound said on October 1 that Hamilton’s gold medal had little worth in the eyes of the world. While the Athens Olympics were a huge success for catching drug cheats, one athlete slipped through the net, said Pound. “It appears a cyclist might have escaped this net because of human error. But I can assure you it’s no longer a gold medal in the eyes of the world. But if nothing else, we got him on the second bounce.”
As the debate rages, mainly in the United States where the affair has seriously dented Hamilton’s cleancut image, Hamilton has been sidelined from competition by his Phonak team and still faces a possible two-year ban.

Funny…isn’t Tyler currently convicted of doping? Seems like he is still a ‘hero’ whereas as soon as Beke is said to be positive, he is a cheat and a nobody, LVL is a nobody even though he has never tested positive, etc…

seems pretty guilty to me…
Beke has tested positive to EPO at a race in Belgium (he won $7500 and all the money was given to the Marc Herremans foundation 
)
Both sample A and B were positive.
Will he be DQed from Kona and kicked out of Tri? And has UCI taken any action on Tyler?
