Was curious who knew what about these two races. Had not planned on being in FL but am now going to be for that weekend. Seeing as they are both on the same day and pretty much the same entry was wondering which is the better race? Thanks
I’m racing Disney… It’s an OLY distance with a 56k bike in place of the normal 40k… So
theres a bit more bang for the buck.

I can’t comment on Disney, but I did Escape two years ago and it’s a fun race – though certainly not a PR race. Swim from the “island” can have a pretty nasty current. Bike is essentially flat except for the causeway bridge, but can be pretty windy. And the run, oh my, **zero **cover from the sun. Other than that, fun race …it’s different
Supposedly only a hundred or spots remaining so don’t wait too long. Good luck.
Check into the logistics of the Disney race, they make it a bit tough to get around.
Escape to Miami, without a doubt.
Disney is a realy tough place to do a tri, logistics-wise. The only way I;d recommend Disney over the Escape race is if you and your family is going to make a vacation out of the trip.
The Escape race is very well-run, and the course is tougher than I thought. Plus-Miami vs. Orlando? Please. I live about 30 minutes from Disney, and I’d rather do the Escape race over the Disney Olympic anyday. Definitely worth the extra miles.
On a side note, I’d recommend the MiamiMan HIM over the Disney 70.3 anyday, as well. The MiamiMan is in the fall, and the FL 70.3 is in late May.
P.S. Sorry I missed your last Central FL stop, Marty. I thought you’d make an appearance for the Margarita Mile last month…
Escape… Disney races are too much of a hassle IMO.
The Escape is not an easy race even though MIA is flat. The swim specially the start is pretty cool you get to jump from the ferry and swim to the island and then is a mass start. If there is current, it wont be a fast swim. The bike is 2 loops with 2 bridges in each loop, if its windy, the causeway portion turns interesting, not a gimmick for a fast/easy bike. The run is tough out and back, no shade with 1 bridge. All road surfaces are well paved unless there is some construction going on. Parking is easy and close to the transition. Need to be there early due to the ferry schedule. Air temperature should be better than August but it could be hot and sunny!!!
