I have an ergomo pro. One of the backdraws I have found that the speed sensor doesn’t start automatically. I have to brake very hard, or go uphill(STEEP) to get the speed going, once recorded it doesn’t stop. It’s okey when trainging, but of course not when racing, especially not drafting-races
Another backdraw, it always rain when I train with my ergomo, this year I have spent 4000km in the rain… I wish the display was clearer in the rain. However it seems to be water proof.
I’m assuming that this is the Ergomo that you bought from me. Sorry to hear that you’re having a problem with it. I had a similar issue when I first installed the unit on my bike, and I was able to resolve it by playing with the magnet position. The sensor needs to be very close to the magnet (~1mm), and the position of the magnet relative to the mark on the sensor is also important. I think that if you play with magnet position and get the sensor as close as possible it should hopefully work fine. I never had an issue with mine once I found the correct position. Also, mine worked fine with the stock magnet, but I’ve read other people using some stronger rare earth magnets for better performance. You could also give this a try. In the US, Radio Shack carries them. Not sure about where you live, though.
Ya it could be the magnet also. I used to have issues with the speed pickup where it would not work at all. I bought a rare earth magnet for my disc and cateye “extra strong” magnet for my training wheels and have not had a problem since.
I just thought It was really weird design, since once it works it never stops. I mean if the computer get rpm/cadence and watt, it should “figure out” that, uhm this bike is moving forward maybe I should try to read the speed again. Atleast I should have programmed that logic, but that’s me. Anyway I guess you are right about the magnet since the reason why it works when I breaks it probably that the magnet gets closer (yeah I don’t have the stiffest trainingwheels…).
mine is the same way, generally happens in a race where it doesn’t work the first mile or so, no idea why… tried moving the magnet around, different magnets, no idea, messes up my mileage a bit but I’m pretty much okay with it at this point as I just look at the power and HR data anyways, speed I only use when going downhill Faaaaaaaaaaast:)
