Ergomo HELP - How do I get new display software to work?

I downloaded the software that allows you to change the display. I run the software, get the grapic of the Ergomo and set my display. I hit the button that say “PC.” On the bottom, it says “Transfer OK.” However, the display on my Ergomo does not change. What am I doing wrong?

Anyone?

Are you sure you have the software looking at the right port?

No idea. How do I tell?

I assume it is looking at the correct port b/c the first time I tried it, it said “Error, in sleep mode” or something like that (the Ergomo was in sleep mode at the time). I turned on the Ergomo and tried again. It said “Transfer OK” or words to that effect. However, the display did not change.

Will the display change on its own or do I need to do something to the Ergomo unit once the transfer is complete?

There are a few hints here:

I am not going to mess with this before LP this weekend, as I do not want to chance messing something up.

As far as I can tell, you MUST update to the newest firmware for this to work. I tried it with my existing firmware and it did exactly what you described. I flashed to the latest from their website and then reset all of my user info (screen averaging rate, units, etc). I took the display software, set my D1 display as I wanted it, and then sent it down. The Ergomo’s display immediately switched to my new preference in 8.2 format:
Watts avg watts
cadence NP
speed avg speed
time dist

Well… I don’t know how you make sure using this program. The Com? button seems to do nothing. I just tried to send data to a non-existent ergomo (i.e. not attached), and the display asked if the Ergomo was sleeping. My guess is that your program is not “seeing” the Ergomo. The most likely cause is that it’s not configred to the proper COM port.

Maybe if you verify in CyclingPeaks that the Ergomo is attached and can be “seen” by the computer, and then restart the display program, it’ll work. If that doesn’t work, I’d suggest emailing Ergomo to find out how to verify that the update software can see the Ergomo.

Thanks. I thought I downloaded the latest firmware, but, maybe not. I will try again tonight.

That is the exact thought I had when I did the download. I’ll play with this next week.

Still not working. I tried uploading the lastest firmware update, but, I think I am getting an error message. Of couse the f_cking thing is in German, so I cannot tell.

Any ideas?

No… I am totally confused… I thought you were totally satisfied with your Ergomo. Maybe your standards are really low?

Wish I could help but I’m having the same problem. I have the latest firmware, unit is connected properly, etc. but when I try and download to PC…nothin’. I wonder what would happen if you did a reset.

good luck, I’ll keep watching the thread.

I’ve been trying to do this since last week and just managed it. Save both the firmware and the display softare updates to your PC.
Then, upload the firmware to your Ergomo - it will show a % complete bar as it does it, bit like updating iTunes, if you get my drift.
Only once you have done that can you upload the display software to the head unit. That’s probabaly why you are not getting anywhere.

Your logic continues to baffle me, but, your predictability remains consistent.

I want to make sure I understand your argument here, so, let’s use the SRM as an example, given that the SRM meets your high standards. You have been using the SRM, without issue for a year. A new program is released that allows you to change the display on the SRM unit. You cannot get the new software to work. Suddenly, you would determine that the SRM is junk? Suddenly, your standards have dropped? Please explain that to me.

You truly are amazing.

“I have had no issues with my Ergomo”

You wrote that statement. That statement is not true.

Furthermore, you were the one responsible for some nice “drive-by-posting”, since I wasn’t even involved in this thread and you refered my name.

So how about you first apologize to the Forum for writing statements that later on turn out not to be true, and second apologize to me for totally out of the blue refering to me in a discussion I wasn’t involved. That would be truly amazing.

Hey I might have some tips - I just recently changed my screens. Anyway, you can check the level of your current firmware by looking at the computer in sleep mode. I’ve got the most recent one and it says “sleeping pn-070419”. The numbers are the firmware revision. If you’ve got the latest firmware up and running, get the computer out of sleep mode and hook up the computer to your pc. Run the exe for the screen changing deal. On the program, set up the screen however you want. This is the important step. If you are adjusting the main screen on the program (they call it D1 or something, it has the watts, HR, cadence, and speed), make sure your ergomo is displaying that same screen. The program only changes one screen at a time and it changes the one you are currently working on. When both the PC program and ergomo are on D1 (or D2 for that matter), hit the PC->Ergomo button. Repeat for the other screen. Hope this helps - Ernie
