Alright,

I’m joining the bandwagon… 173 pounds (down from 180 at Christmas) would like to be into the 160’s by my first road bike race of the season in early May… Hopefully low 160’s by ‘A’ race triathlon in July. Was 168 last year for this race.

So far today:
breakfast: Bagel (veggie cream cheese) coffee milk and sugar
morning snack: chocolate milk
Lunch: Tuna Sandwich with store bought flax seed bread
p.m. snack: V8 juice… peppermint patties
planned dinner: “monster” salad (every veggie I can find) with a sliced chicken breast… maybe a beer later on.

Hey Slowman, one poster asked… How tall are you? I’m 5’10" so i’m carrying a bit extra at my afore mentioned weight.

"Oatmeal w/tablespoon of sugar
1 onion bagel, teaspoon of canola oil
small glass OJ
coffee

the bagel is 200 calories, as it turns out, excluding the canola oil. i figger this b’fast to be about 600 calories.

I think Slowman has been abducted by Aliens!

“sandwich made of whole grain bread, this sliced pastrami, asiago cheese, spinach, light mayo and dijon mustard”

fucker
.

snack:

handful of peanuts 8 oz powerade.

“How tall are you?”

i’m 6’2". just weighed mysef. still 175lb. but don’t get the wrong idea. i’m bird-boned. i’ve got a small frame (FRAME, i said). no change in weight since yesterday. 'sokay. just makes me more determined.

for lunch, i’m having my belly as the main course. as side dishes, i’m having the other half of that individual pizza, 500 cal, with a bunch of sliced “red, yellow, green pepper medley” on the top. basically, it’s 50 calories of peppers. and, a bowl of trader joes’ tomato and red bell pepper soup. so, that’s 750 calories total, giving me about 1400 or so for the day.

i’m alotted 600 more for dinner. that’s going to be tight.

i’ve also ingested another 150 calories worth of cytomax during a 25mi bike ride i just finished, and that’s allowed on top of the food intake, as i deem it necessary for other systems—sort of the pilot light that keeps the fat burning.

and, i took a multi vitamin and a baby aspirin.

i’ll report back after dinner.

“fucker”

Dan,

People should know that you and I go a way back.

Should I report in on dinner to? Not sure what I will have time for. I have a ton of work to do and would like to squeeze a short ride in if I can.

Fleck

P.S. People seem to be chiming in with height/weight. I am 6’2" and 160! As reported that’s about 5 pounds less than triathlon race weight from yester-year.

“Should I report in on dinner to?”

yes. but be warned that i will probably run through my reservoir of cuss words, if you say that you had rack of lamb and garlic mashed potatoes, whatever. and, as we’re into a new season of deadwood my vocabulary is being added to.

Dan, you are a piece of work. I’m about to greatly help your effort. You can thank me later.

Fiber, brother, fiber. Git yerself a couple tubs of psyllium. The finer ground the better. Mix it with water. I’d say enough for 10g or so of fiber. It gets thick pretty fast, so chug it down quickly. It really is filling (and good for you). I do this when I have a low fiber meal and/or if I feel the urge to keep eating when I know I shouldn’t.

If I were you, I would’ve deleted the OJ, the brown sugar, half the bagel, and the canola oil. Instead I’d have put a small amount of peanut or almond butter on the bagel half.

Knock yourself out eating as much zuccini, yellow squash, brussell sprouts, asparagus, etc., as you want. PLAIN. Just micro them lightly, or even broil in the oven, and then lightly salt them. You almost literally cannot overeat this way.

Following these guidelines will set you free.

…I thought he was abducted by Bjorn riding at 50 RPM with quads 2x the size of slowman :-).

“zuccini, yellow squash, brussell sprouts, asparagus, etc.”

i assume you’re joking. why not just go outside, cut up a joshua tree and wolf that down? save myself the gas spent going to the grocery store.

i agree that the thing to do is find a food with basically no caloric value and consume mass quantities. onion rings, for example, but without whatever accompanies the onions.

Dan,
Let me start by saying… I don’t know much about nutrition and my diet shows it (even if my body doesn’t). Never the less, it would seem that we are only seeing half of the equation here. We are getting the fuelling side but not the burning side. Post the workouts and calculate the caloric deficient

Calorie comsumption is only part of a healthy lifestyle. Have you ever considered exercising? 30min 3x week will do wonders for weight loss.

Slowman, then you should take celery. Lots of it. 2000 calories per day of celery will do the trick. Before each celery meal, drink 1L of water :-). All kidding aside, good luck with this quest. Personally I have found that when I do 20 hours per week of training, I lose weight (no brainer), and when I do sub 7 I can also lose weight as I am not training so hard that I overeat. When I train 12-14, it is impossible to lose weight, as I am always hungry, but not burning so much in training (ie 3 hours per day) that I can eat whatever I want.

Man, this sounds like a forum for anorexic female teenagers

“just weighed mysef. still 175lb.”

That was funny. Reminds me of this ad on TV where a guy weights himself in the exercise room, then go for a 5" run around the said room, weights himself again and seems to be disappointed that he did not lose any weight.

Huh? You can’t digest veggies or something? I’m starting to think you are SOFT. Pick a couple you like and do that then. Just NO FRIGGIN OIL, etc.

And do the fiber thing. It’s good for you. It works. It’s cheap. And you won’t be (as) hungry.

“post the workouts and calculate the caloric deficient”

i AM posting it. you guys are just too busy eating twinkies to read it.

You’re going about this all wrong, but you are bull-headed and will do it your way anyway. Love ya.
After restaurant eating for 4 days over the weekend, I’m glad to be back to a routine.

Pre-run:
2 cups black coffee

Breakfast:
1 egg and 1 egg white scrambled in a bit of butter wrapped in a flour tortilla with salsa and a little bit of cheddar cheese

Snack:
coffee w/a bit of Half & Half
Fig Newton left over from the weekend (130 cal)

Lunch:
big salad which included spinach and romaine lettuce, fresh califlower and broccoli, cherry tomatoes, a few grapes, fresh strawberries and pineapple, some turkey, one spoon of garbanzo beans, one spoon of kidney beans, some shredded beet (or beetroot for the Kiwis), a small amount of real blue cheese.

Snack: an apple

Dinner will be a piece of grilled fish and probably fresh asparagus or broccoli (whichever I have in the refrigerator). Maybe a bit of couscous topped with some pasta sauce.

During the day: lots of water.

“You’re going about this all wrong, but you are bull-headed and will do it your way anyway.”

what’s the difference between your way and my way? isn’t it basically the same way? my lunch yesterday included romaine lettuce. and my breakfast included coffee. just not the half and half. and tonight it’s ahi, on the stainless steel grill outside under the veranda that you’ve STILL never seen because you preferred to sleep on the ground in a bag at that hellhole wasteland called lake san antonio.

isn’t it basically the same way?<<

No it’s not. Bagels? Pizza? Little protein. The ahi is good.

September, OK??? I have a reservation don’t I?
And I don’t sleep on the ground. I have a blow-up bed and a nice big tent. Might even use it at Brad’s a few weeks after WF.
