i am going strong as well. but, i’m still sick. but feel a bit better this morning.
day before yesterday i made a big batch of ceviche, and have been nibbling on that. this has made this 2000 calorie thing a lot easier. my ceviche:
“cook” the fish (in this case swordfish) in lime juice (most people use lemon juice, but i’m a lime guy, just the juice from fresh limes). by cook i mean the acid in the lime juice will cook the fish, in the refrigerator. i let it sit there for several hours.
then, add diced fresh tomatoes, onions, cilantro, jalapenos, garlic.
so, that’s been the basis of my lunch and dinner for a coupla days. to change it up last night i cut up a head of romaine, put trader joe’s low fat ranch, and several spoonfulls of ceviche. mixed it up. sort of a seafood salad. wonderful main meal. very satisfying and filling. probably no more than 400 calories.
yesterday i did work all afternoon on horse stalls i’m building, and in my sick condition i was quite worn out. i made myself two big smoothies, just OJ and frozen fruit. that was probably the most caloric thing i had.
so, each day has been 2000 to 2500. it’s very easy now. i haven’t weighed in 3 days. i’ll weigh and report. but, with my lack of training this week i would doubt i’m very much lighter. but, my jeans are fitting a little bit looser.

175 today, first uptick in the daily weigh in since April 11th. But that is to be expected. Hell I am probably building muscle mass.
Goal weight is 170. Adult lifetime low is 168 during 1/2 ironman training last year. One of those dehydrated weigh in’s.
Cup of Nespresso (double shot)
1/2 cup of Grap nuts on top of 1 Yoplait Yogurt for a total of 409 calories so far.
Going to run Towsley Canyon with a co-worker at 7:00 a.m. Should burn 800-1200 calories.
Wife thinks I am nuts and obsessive as she caught me on the scale naked this a.m. as she awoke from her “Girls night out”. My guys night out consisted of one Pilsner Urquell last night.
I’m generally going well on this, but this weekend is just okay due to it being my mom’s birthday Friday and my birthday today. Too many parties and too much cake.
Tomorrow I’ll get back to being a good boy.
But, to celebrate my birthday and to kick start my Epic Diet, I decided to shave my head yesterday. It’s something I’ve wanted to do for years, so yesterday I went to the barber and said to take it off.
I forgot how damn handsome I am – now I remember.

For most of my adult life, I weighed 180 pounds and was in good shape. Then, a few years ago, it all slipped away. It’s truly time to return to my normal weight.

I weighed in this morning at 133.4. Goal weight is 129. I’m not sure what I’ll do today as far as a workout; yesterday’s long run was a killer – way too many hills. I was supposed to ride this morning, but wimped out. Maybe later today.
Saturday: granola cereal with milk; coffee; no lunch (no time and still a bit nauseous after the run); linguini with steamed crabs, salad and far too much pinot grigio (celebrated 14th wedding anniversary)
Sunday: just coffee so far.

workout today - AM walking the dogs, PM easy run w/ the wife this evening, afternoon catching up on all that I have neglected the past two months.
I fell off the wagon for a few days, but nnot too bad and I’m back on the program now.

Breakfast: The ol’ toast and PB, small glass of OJ.
Goal is to break 190 by the end of the week, but that’s a long way from my ultimate goal.

Hello All,
Have had a great weekend… Eating quite well. Yesterday was BBQ for Dinner (Steak, potatoes and Salad) Today for dinner will be left overs. Mornings I have been hitting the oatmeal and having fruit (banannas, apples, oranges) throughout. Some excellent focacio ham sandwiches today for lunch. Hitting about 2500 (including beer) both days.
Big hurdle cleared for me today… Stepped on the scale at 169 (started at 173… goal mid-summer of 160). I’m a bit ahead of schedule.
Training this weekend has been intense and bike heavy on par with my “bike focus” month. 2 hours 30 yesterday with a couple fellow triathletes. 3 hours today with the roadies… Got dropped… Hard! should have held onto the group… getting stuck in “no mans land” between the fast pack and the hangers-on sucks! Took a good beating in the last hour… My own mistake… was talking about the finer points of running with a former triathlete an we just let the lead 8 ride away… He later had the legs to bridge… I didn’t. Roadies 1… overconfident triathlete 0. lesson learned
Don’t you guys ever eat real food?
I weighed in at 172.5, goal is 169 by mid May. I was 161 last season but that was way too skinny for being 6’ 3" (50 yrs. old). I feel stronger and faster at 170.
FOOD…orange juice and fruit for breakfast. PIZZA after the 25 mile ride in the 25-35 mph nor’easter winds today. I used the Zipp 3000’s instead of the HED3’s in the wind. Didn’t get blown around as much!
