I got in hospital with atrial fibrillation what I got during an HM in 2010.
They found my aorta root at 40mm and stated at first not doin tri anymore. I told em to check my history and they found data from 2007 with 39mm, before that I didn’t do any sport at all.
Since 2010 I increased my training but trying not to push to the limit, even in racing (84%avg/hrmax HIM).
I have a yearly checkup and are still at 38-40mm, it always vary a little. Last ultrasonic check I went right after a hard swim set, same dia with 39mm. So from 0 to 10 hrs/wk within 6 yrs did nothing bad to that. BUT I DONT TELL YOU JUST TO GO AHEAD.
Important isn’t any soft or thin walls on that pipe like an aneurism.
Btw…normal is called as far as I know 30-35mm, stadler had bout 70mm.
He was in hospital same time like me (end of May 2010) and hearing that made me definitely nervous bout my condition.
Different hospital for sure before anyone asks.
