Can someone tell me what the difference is?

Also, can certain bike only accept certain BBs? That is, is the BB cup on a bike threaded to only accept one type of BB, or can you put any BB you want on any frame?

It’s an entirely different size thread and not interchangeable. Also the right side on the English BB is a reverse thread while it’s not on the Italian.

So the BB you get depends on your frame?
