Did I miss this on ST? I can’t believe this revered board is not in hot discussion over this blatant display of un-American and anti-Christian behavior.

Who gives a shit? I find any and all displays beyond a hands up on the field too much and akin to self promotion.

See, I was offended because I thought it was a blatant display of Christian behavior. All of you praying people look alike to me.
Barry Sanders did it the right way, paraphrasing here, hand the ball to the ref and act like you’ve been there before.

Yea well Sanders HAD been there before. Lots of times.

For people that are supposed to be “Professionals” they don’t act very professional most of the time. I understand getting “Excited” and a display of emotion, but the premeditated BS and show boating is over the top. It should all be penalized as “Being a douche on national TV”

I was watching a game the other night and was amused at the guys who would celebrate tackling a guy after a 5-6 yard GAIN.
Psssh, looked fine to me.
Many Athletes make signs of a cross etc. after a win, in cycling, soccer etc. How is this any different? And why should we be offended.
Do I think it is silly they are all giving credit to an imagined God? Yes, but that is beside the point.

-1. I like the WWF aspect of it. In the words of Nate Jackson, ex NFL journeyman TE,
"Football is a wild-man’s game. Emotions run high. People get excited, talk shit, scream obscenities, get in each other’s faces, and celebrate like lunatics when they do something awesome. That shouldn’t be tamped down and suppressed. That should be celebrated and embraced.
Fuck that act-like-you’ve-been-there stuff. This isn’t a sacred institution. Act like you’ve never been there before and you’ll never be there again. Act like you’re out of your mind, because you are. The energy on an NFL football field does not promote levelheadedness or rational contemplation. It promotes frothing and grunting and** pushing the Nitro button all the way down**. I say embrace it. "

.
I’m not totally against it, just not on the playing field. Go to the sideline and do whatever you want until your self-centered, look at me attitude has had its fill. Humility is lost on the current generation of pro athletes.

Thank another Muslim, Muhammad Ali, for ushering in the era of gratuitous displays of excessive self-promotion for TV consumption.
When will someone pray after dropping an easy catch?
“Dear God, why do you hate me? Or do you simply have someone else on your fantasy team?”
They should all act like white people when in the endzone.
Or, at least as professional I imagine I would act if I were ever even remotely good enough the be out there.

Oh christ, man, I almost drooled on myself in catatonic boredom just reading that sentence.
Or, at least as professional I imagine I would act
If you could actually score an NFL touchdown you’d be tearing off a piece of the chunky stuff like this black guy.

White people get in the zone?

It’s been done.
Stevie Johnson blew it for the Bills on Sunday. So how’d he handle it afterward? By blaming God on Twitter, of course. The Bills wideout dropped what would have been a game-winning catch in overtime against the Steelers on Sunday.
The Steelers went on to win the game, and after the game, Johnson was left searching for answers. So he turned to his Twitter feed. “I PRAISE YOU 24/7!!! AND THIS HOW YOU DO ME!!!” he tweeted late Sunday afternoon. “YOU EXPECT ME TO LEARN FROM THIS??? HOW!!! ILL NEVER FORGET THIS!! EVER!!! THX THO…”
cute but wrong…neither should be chastised for this. however, one is doing it on the playing field where everyone is looking the other is doing it on the sideline as a moment of quite reflection.
the sideline guy got destroyed for his faith
