Endless pool alternative?

OK, I am sick of travelling to the Y to swim. I either have to share a lane which is difficult because I swim so poorly that all my concentration is spent trying to avoid the other swimmers and can’t work on my pathetic form. Secondly 3 times this summer the pool was closed when I went because of “accidents” A group profoundly handicapped adults uses the pool in the morning for therapy and unfortunately not all of them are bowel continent. The pool will be closed for several hours after these accidents. This really gives me the heebie jeebies about getting back in the water. I am sure open water is not much better.

All that said, an endless pool will set you back some serious cash and I was wondering what else compares to it?

Thanks,

David

The BEST alternative of them all is to find and swim with a good masters swim team/group. That will help your stroke and swimming far better than the 10k to 15k dollars for an endless pool.

The best pool I’ve swam in is the one my masters team uses. It’s local swim complex attached to a high school… They usually offer basic lap swimming for adults while the team practices if your not ready to try a master program…

Places like 24 hour fitness have very scary pools =)
