End-of-season sales on wheels?

I’ve pretty much decided on picking up HED Stingers as my 1st set of racewheels. Likely will get them from bicycledoctor.net or bikesportmichigan.com (both seemed extremely helpful and competitively priced).

About 3 week wait on Stingers so I have 2 options. Order now to try to get them in time for Toughman half which is pretty much the last race of the season – or wait until dead of winter hoping to get a deal or next seasons wheels.

Toughman is a B race for me and I’d be disappointed if I bought the wheels only to see them heavily discounted a month later or replaced by a much improved model at the same price.

So 3 questions:
– Do HED Stingers (or comparable wheels) get discounted at end-of-season?
– If yes, when does that typically happen?
– If not, at this point is it worth it to wait for the 2010 model?

Thanks,
Michael

I have never seen Hed wheels get significantly discounted. Since the models don’t change much from year to year, you’ll never see discounts on wheels like you do bike models or clothing.

It would seem that you are interested in a tubular wheelset, but you should also check out the “edge” group buy thread on the forum. There are some pretty good deal going for various clincher rim wheelset.

I can understand your concern. I hate that too, but I think the above poster is right. I have seen discounted Hed wheels when a model is discontinued or changed. I think last years Zipps become Sram (formerly flashpoint). See what others think. I just bought a Hed H3 front. I figured why wait? I’ll get it now and use it.

ill sell you a set of Jet 60.24 spoke front…24 spoke rear with a powertap 2.4 wireless…the wheels are non C2…ill even throw in a pair of Vittoria Open Corsa 700x20…the wheels are 2008s with 2009 graphics…wheels have about 500 miles on them…

Any recommendations for a good site to buy wheels online?

depends on what you are looking for i guess…What are you looking for?
