Having just completed my second season of sprints and olympics, I am thinking of throwing in an end of season half ironman for the no pressure experience. Ideally an easy flat course. I am looking at the Soma in Tempe at the end of October or the MiamiMan which just got moved to November 21st. The latter works better for my schedule. Anybody know anything about these races? I think they are both brand new. Also open to any other suggestions.
The MiamiMan is in a park next to our local zoo. It will be a really neat race and very flat. There is not much shade and the high temps should be in the mid 80’s but we have had some cooler weather in November some years. It is a flat fresh water lake swim and no info if wetsuits will be allowed. We do the coahcing for the race series and are pretty friendly with the RD. Let me know if you have any other specific questions! Hope you can make it!
The Soma Half Ironman course is going to be very flat. Tempe is a pretty good place to be in late October, the weather is about perfect (of course I’m biased). If nothing else, this should be a pretty cool race to watch because I think Macca and Chris Legh are racing in the men’s field and Paula Newby Fraser and Heather furh for the women.
