My sister-in-law is on what she has described as “the most empowering thing she’s ever done in her life.” After a lifetime of being significantly overweight and a string of fad diets and disappointments she’s now taken charge of her life and is losing weight and getting fit the right way. After losing the equivalent of 'an Olson twin" and with her sights clearly set on losing the other one she’s targeted completion of a half-marathon this fall and a full in the spring. She’s even talking about a duathlon in the future. She’s blogging about it primarily for her own accountability and benefit, and I’m here to ask for a favor. Simply click over to her blog and if you feel so inclined drop a comment of encouragement. She really doesn’t expect anybody but family to ever see it so even if you don’t say anything the spike in her traffic will be an encouragement. I’m extremely proud of what she’s doing and the determination she’s showing in doing it.

Oh I am sure someone will say SOMETHING encouraging… is paul_tx around?

Is that really a significant weight loss? What does an Olson twin weigh, four maybe five pounds?
I was going to say “Good for her” then clicked on the blog and saw the starbucks frappuccino.
But it’s a light, so I decided to rescind from criticism (although that was funny to see that). Congratulations to her for engaging in a new, healthy lifestyle. But I still feel compelled to say two things:
" I am sure someone will say SOMETHING encouraging… is paul_tx around?"
fat people don’t like me any more than I like them. If they dislike me simply because I’m average size and can eat and drink with impunity why should I be more noble towards them?

You dislike someone just because they are overweight?

Starbucks is ridiculously overpriced.
Food is fuel.
It IS okay to indulge every once in a while, you know…even if you’re on a diet or eating “healthy”. Sometimes food can be bling, as well as fuel.
(Although I agree, starbucks is awfully spendy. But hey, if that’s yrou treat, go nuts.)
